Pentecost

Pentecost watched Caterham, the Cardinal at the cathedral and Upper Norwood. Organ and singing Peter Hurford, Come down O Love divine and O thou who camest and splendid Bach. Zoom with Caterham. Gutters cleared and replaced at the back. Downstairs loo seat replaced at last! Fisher House and John Wilson at St George's cathedral including blessing of oils. Pope spoke so well for Thy Kingdom come. L'elisir d'amore light relief from the Met.  t a gre The BBC TV Pentecost programmes were not great. Vespers from Blackfriars. Really enjoyed the quiz devised by Fr Daniel Trott - did well on birds and the Bibles not so good on Disney themes! Zoom Ensemble 26 was lovely. Now watching Young musician string final. at idea to blessathedral. I wonder what other dioceses are doing? ge's cathedral. I wonder what other dioceses are doing?

St Mary's Sydney

Watched Pentecost vigil from St Mary's cathedral Sydney. Good choir and homily. More photos into albums. Framed Mum and Dad's coloured wedding photo. Think it is hand tinted. Spent the morning on Henry portrait. Bellini La Somnambula on from Met bit not really my thing. Roderick Williams singing Butterworth in countryside. Lovely. Richard McVeigh playing at Arundel cathedral. Mata Hari remarkable ballet from Amsterdam. I have 2012 Berlioz Trojans programme from ROH and Olympics. 

Pentecost vigil

Trojans from the Met. Have filled 1 and a bit albums wi National theatre This house. Thanks to Simon Surtees for recommending it. The programme on TV quizzes showed why Eggheads and Only connect are so clever. th  We just had our first person in the house with mask and gloves. He confirmed we need a new freezer. Already ordered a new laptop screen and the fire stick for TV not working properly. Add to that gutters to be cleared, sorting out damp, getting bushes trimmed back and garden fence. What next? phoSpe More photos in albums. 2 cupboards full of videos and cassettes. Most of them will get binned. Pity they can't be recycled. Watching Dutch National ballet Mata Hari on You tube. Faust

A house in time interesting, Balletboyz and male dancers, Father Brown, Animal park. The last caps for NHS. At lunchtime South London interfaith group.I read Laudato Si prayer. Interesting to watch 2 versions of Manon and Faust so close together. I prefer Puccini to Massenet and Berlioz to Gounod! Real Marigold Hotel was good. A house in time always interesting.

Wednesday

Fisher House Mass was lovely. A favourite passage from Acts when the Romans literally haul Paul out of dispute. The prayer for unity in the Gospel.Dustmen took the extra box of papers so the paper bin is now again 3/4 full. The accumulation of 45 years thrown out! Domingo and Scotto on Met 1980 Man on Lescaut. Meditation?

Yesterday could not get into meditation zoom because password was wrong. Today I forgot 10 a.m. At  St Johns .I did "attend" Fisher House. My phone 's connection to internet is  playing up but I did manage to upload a video made earlier but I po sted the same prayer 3 times! June Catena online had me alternately fuming at people who don't want change at all and smiling at an article questioning how many Catholics believe in the Real Presence. I have read The Tablet online my copy still has not come. Future historians will battle with so much now online!  Ernani from the Met 2012 not Verdi 's greatest. The soprano a bit squally, Dmitri dominates the stage. Saw this in Verona 1972 and rain stopped play 5 minutes from the end.I said " La  comedia e finita" as everybody ran for cover! It was hilarious! We all got wet any way!My meditatio quiet session was wrecked by watching the end of Come dine with me beforehand! Why would a man with 2 posh cars and a swim...

2 operas

Berlioz Damnation of Faust from the Met. Lepage production. Have sung in the chorus several times wonderful score.The Tablet recommended Eugene Onegin from Komische Oper Berlin and it's excellent. Watched Bake off the Professionals, a very British hotel, Animal Park and Father Brown. Hot so shorts on. Could not get into quiet time zoom. Liz's Faust score records 5 performances including Levine. I recall Charles DuToit.

Elephants

Walking with elephants to the Okovango has been an amazing series with really closeup shots of wild animals all of the big 5. We must preserve these wonderful animals! 

Bach

Yo Yo Ma playing Bach cello suites live for Covid victims and carers - so beautiful. Reminded me of that amazing late night Prom with a hushed Albert Hall.

7th of Easter

Family zoom was great. Fisher House, homily from Godzdogz you tube, Upper Norwood singing and organ. Virtually censed. Faust from Met with Jonas and Rene Pape. I was lucky as I had kept a spare right ear mould. The mould tubes were clogged with wax. 

2 operas

Liein. Fisher house, Timothy Radcliffe and Bishop Paul Mason on Thu kingdom come. Don Giovanni 1978 very static. Varady out sings Sutherland. James Morris looks perfect - he sang at the Met for 50 years. More boxes cleared and study floor now clear. Cendrillon from ROH di Dinato and Alice Coote very funny. Morecambe and Wise.

Blogs

Don Giovanni from Met Joan Sutherland gets top billing - she hardly moves around. Richard Bonynge. James Morris sang at Met for 50 years! Cleared a lot more paper and some books. Sorted spirituality boxes - there are 6! Loads of paper for the tip. Norwood Catenians blog and Face book more or less complete. Added more photos to other blogs but the index is not working well. 

Un ballo

Up early and have now added all Catenian material to blog and Facebook. Fisher House, Salcombe and Upper Norwood where we had incense, organ and singing! Un Ballo from the Met fabulous production Dmitri Hvorostovky was great in Eri tu and throughout. Father Brown. Friday up late Salcombe and Fisher House. Turandot from the Met - the Franco Zefferelli production I saw at the cinema which is stunning. Excellent zoom RSCM webinar on future of church music 700 listening. David Price and John Hall.

Idomeneo

Today's treat Idomeneo from the Met with Alice Coote.I was up early so at Fisher House at 8! Salcombe on St Dunstan. Long chat to Ann. Found more material to clear out! Excellent zoom on eco spirituality. With St Francis you can pray Praise the Lord through the air, through the water, etc. Zoom meditation. Went through more boxes and sorted children's books and toys and games. Quite a few going to the nursery. Father Brown, bake off and Best Western hotels.

Sixth Sunday of Easter

Lovely mass with singing from Archbishop John Wilson at St George's cathedral on you tube. Loved the remark about the hat! Zoom to Caterham but no sound. It was OK on Friday. Our singing of Ps 99/100 included by Tito Pereira on zoom.Got tired uploading photos.Went through year 2017 boxes and 1 bookcase. Lovely singing from Sisters of St Andrew can't say the same for St Pancras Choral evensong. Jo Brand on private passions. Zoom Laudato si retreat now on you tube 370 listening in and I signed the pledge. Excellent facebook with Nelson Ferreira on drawing hands see you tube. BBC young musician brass final. Elephants in Botswana.

Saturday

Fisher House Mass. More work on Norwood Catenians blog and Facebook. Sorting study and files in order but where is 2017? Large box to sort. Tony Robinson train journeys. Melvin Tan playing Beethoven. Ensemble zoom Mozart and Prokofiev. Last bit of Euro vision good.

Met Peter Grimes 2008 conducted by Donald Runnicles excellent. Like Mahler in places. Felicity Palmer was great. Father Brown. Anastasia from Royal ballet gorgeous but kept stopping. The official barber shop chronicles from Leeds playhouse. 

Friday

Fr Daniel at cathedral, yellow roses and veg delivered, Fisher House on friendship and Dante's friends in hell who did not love, sound at Salcombe much better. Come dine with me. We would have been in Aberdeen for the conference this weekend. Zoom with Mick. Des has found a new s.d. 

Ariadne

I have sorted old Catenian materials and had a good clear out. I have started photographing Bill Beach's history and loading it onto the Norwood Catenians Facebook page. Enjoyed laying Haydn, White horse inn and Carousel and recorded Ps 99 for deacon Tito in Acton. Mark Cazalet on Catholic creators zoom sacramental artist rather than a Christian artist. Liked his use of meditation and colours to reflect people. Real Marigold hotel. Liz doing maths and Alpha.

A lucky escape as it did not rain in the night as I left my study window open! Liz left oven on all night so ham has shrunk. I dreamt about a tango written by a cousin in Argentina so a search to find it as it was worth a lot of money! No luck! Fisher House and low mass on zoom from St John's. Holy time with SLIFG zoom and Salcombe zoom with Fr Daniel French. Richard Moth sang at mass for carers from Arundel cathedral and clapped at 8. Also rang bells we could hear the train sirens going.
