Tv pretty dire Dame Edna and Norton but fireworks were impressive Heard some locally. Put up 10 new calendars and watched Romeo and Juliet ballet and Vienna New Year concert. Wrote SLIFG minutes. Contacted art listing sites and radio stations about the exhibition. So pleased with the art exhibition catalogue! Looks fab. Watched festive bake off and animals in the snow. 

I played Sheep may safely graze (which was Liz's Mum's favourite) Leslie Woodgate Pastoral song, Willan on Sandys and Quentin Thomas on Crimond. Nice chat to Leon and then to  St John's vicarage garden  party for Adrian and Graham's 70th! Liz went to children's prom with Louise and Ciaran. Interesting talk by Sir Nicholas Kenyon and Lesley Leavey on the earlyhistory of the Proms.  Some lovely playing of Beethoven at the Prom. Fast and furious is not very musical sometimes and why not more in the Maestoso sections? Still Nelsons and Birmingham forces impressed.

Swam 24. Wrote 3 articles based on my notes from meetings. Liz went to Earlsfield for pedicure. Watched Wolf Hall, good programme on Simon Rattle and Come dine with me and listened to 2 evensongs St John's and Windsor both excellent. To Heythrop to pick up 4 books for the Jerusalem course which Larry issued for me. To Gate picturehouse and met a nice lady as I was early. I must remember not to sit in the back row as people go to the loo and a woman came in late and dumped next to me. The ROH live production was excellent and Bryn Terfel was splendid. Peter Rose, Adrianne Pieczonka and Ed Lyon all most impressive not forgetting Catherine Wyn-Rogers and Michael Kónig. Andris Nelsons quite rightly included the chorusmaster in the lineup for bows. It was quite riveting and no interval! To Acton and Liz picked me up. Wednesday Ciaran was again a bit off with me. Sean was on fine form and shouted out in the silence at music "Was that a fire engine Grandad?" Had lunch at Waterm...

Swam 20. Dr OJo suctioned my ears - it hurt in the right one. I will be referred to a central unit for a new hearing test - not been done since 2006! To hearing aid clinic and right one retubed and got batteries. Straight to Clapham Picturehouse and lots of time to have cappuccino and carrot cake in the sunshine. Turandot from the Met (2009 broadcast). Fantastic set and costumes. Marcello Giordani was a bit wooden but sang well. Liu sung by Marina Poplavskaya moved me to tears. How much better 'Nessun dorma' is in context! Andris Nelsons conducted.To Tate Modern and had a look at 4 exhibitions. In the African art library lamps made of burnt books becayse 'when an old man dies, it is like a library is burnt'. How wise. I liked the sculptures of Saloua Raouda Choucar. Ellen Gallagher and Ibrahim El-Salahi did not impress. Earl Grey in members room and phoned David Walker. 15 and 9 to the hall.
