Liz went to the cathedral where they sang Langlais. Picked up Dennis and took Ann and Paul to St Michael's. 61 there. We did sing the psalm as I found a chant for it. All went well and Fr Paul thanked choir and me at the end. Widor Toccata was appreciated - I have practised this hard and not played it in public for some years! It went reasonably well. To Rosendale pub for an excellent lunch of lamb. I had a lucky escape and did not get chocolate on my best trousers!  It was raining so the boys could not play outside. The Gruffalo eggs were appreciated. They all came back to us and I had some nice wine after surviving Lent (like Fr Paul). Later we went for a walk and had Baileys and ice cream. Dennis went back to Salford and will join us in York. Watched quiz about BBC2 featuring Gareth Malone and Brian Cox. Leicester cathedral TV broadcast was good. Pope Francis was impressive and last night's Vigil was on TV news!

Liz went off to the cathedral for morning prayer and Sung Mass. Completed the Tablet crossword - still have 1 and a half issues to catch up on! At St Michael's decided Howells Saraband would not work at all -  the trumpet stop is quite strident so played Orgelbuchlein. We used Common worship and the "carousel" setting - composer unknown for Gloria, Sanctus and Agnus - it lacks appeal. Thine be the glory, Alleluia sing to Jesus, Alleluia! give thanks to the risen Lord and The day of resurrection. Psalm and Celtic alleluia confidently sung. Biggest attendance of the week - 32. Average for the Triduum around 18 in church. Hallelujah chorus was appreciated. Car to Selhurst and got to Acton via Willesden Junction. Jo, Terry, Cara and Jack came for a delicious lunch of lamb and lemon meringue pie. Took Sean's mosaic and he was on great form. Ciaran was tired and had too much chocolate. Liz liked her luxury egg - it got cracked at Heythrop. Home to Antiques roadshow. Watche...

Woke early so looked at the Proms prospectus and commented on the BBC site about no Henry Wood sea songs on the Last Night. Instead we are to have Gerard Hoffnung and Ketelbey - which is funnier? To Coulsdon and went well although I think I could have played better. Haydn Mass, Thatcher Come ye faithful, This joyful Eastertide and Howells Saraband. Terrific noise of bells and gongs and organ before the hymn version of Exultet to "Woodlands". Coffee and sherry afterwards and people raving about the singing on Friday and today so that's great! I practised afterwards including Mendelssohn 3rd sonata.

Here is Liz holding the cardinal's mitre at Easter Sunday mass at the cathedral. There were so many there the doors had to be closed! Dennis on Skype from Dublin. Our cottas will need washing - the gallery is pretty dirty and we were leaning on the edge to light the night lights. I fell asleep on the settee last night and woke up to do blog in the early hours then slept again. The break in Germany is much needed. Ann and Paul are currently in Vienna, Louise and Tom in Ireland. Have not heard from Bruce.
