Swam 20.  Emma Hamilton at National Maritime museum very interesting and well presented. Jonathan Eyre excellent playing of Bach at Royal naval college and a good audience. D elicious lunch at Greenwich picturehouse before Fantastic beasts on a free ticket! Fabulous effects in New York.Watched Vienna and Chester Zoo. Darcey Bussilll on Margot Fonteyn excellent.

Frost only swam 18 as I was a bit delayed. Liz went to King's and all OK for another year. Watched Audrey Hepburn and start of War Horse prom. The Military wives choir were excellent! To Grants Vue to see "Paddington" which we loved. Buses up the creek because of burst water main and nobody to take our money! I abandoned attempt to get home and took tram and bus to Kevin Ingram's for Catenian council meeting. Philip was very grumpy again! Kevin is to be VP and I will take over as secretary so that Brendan can be President. Buses home. 

Arrived at cathedral at 1 for ordination of 9 Jesuit deacons. Turns out all it was was moving chairs! Any way it was enjoyable and the cardinal was on good form. Rebecca really does get up everybody's nose acting as an assistant MC! She had said she wasn't coming! Farm St and Sacred Heart Wimbledon choirs sang new piece by Jackson with effective organ part, Haugen and Inwood. Mawby Ave verum and Cardinal giving communion and Brian with the chalice was a wonderful moment. A nice reception afterwards and saw a lot of my Heythrop friends and nuns. Told Damian about contacts with Muslims. Michael Barnes was in the congregation. Saw Joseph from Kerala and he remembered our visit. Had tea at Marks and Fr Alexander was celebrant at Mass. Byron consort of Harrow school sang Lassus and lovely Jackson O sacrum convivium. Watched Don't tell the bride and programme on WWI. Darcey Bussill on ballerinas.

Great expectations was brilliant. Earthflight is amazing! How do they do it? Dorian Gray was very well done very hedonistic. Started Friday by noting ideas for the dialogue essay. Watched Darcey Bussill dances Hollywood and Musical nativity with John Rutter at Dorchester Abbey. Cambridge Singers including that nice young bass from the cathedral. Gerald Finlay sang beautifully. Finally finished reading A Secular Age 850 pages - the longest book I have ever read!

Thursday to Catenian Dulwich circle meeting famous for the eats after the meeting. I consumed a pint of bitter and 2 lovely pints of Guinness. No wonder I had to get up in the night but at least I went straight back to bed. A very warm welcome and I had not visited them for some months. Choir practice last night went well. The clutch on the car went again (2nd time on a Friday) so Liz met me at the station and I went by train and came home by bus in time to see the moving end of Darcey Bussill's ballet career at Covent Garden dancing to Mahler "Das lied von der erde" on BBC2. She was clearly very moved by it all. Padrerob (A priest's musings on the journey) which is compulsory reading because it is so good needs our prayers as he applies for a new post. (He did get a new post later in the year!) He has this lovely icon of I think St John. He reminds me that I have said little about my past in South Africa so I will do a bit on that.
