Along with 2000 others St Paul's cathedral first evensong (Purcell Hear my prayer, a modern anthem. Sadly could not get a single word in the psalm!) then Rowan Williams who was slower and clearer. Collision

On the way back from swimming turning from Buller Rd into Mersham Road where it is always difficult to see car drove into my side. Some damage to wheel arch and door. The young woman was incredibly rude shouting at me and calling for witnesses. The boy with her was in tears but she did nothing to comfort him. I did not have phone or pen. Her parting shot was that she was late for school. I phoned the insurance company and he was very helpful. I was pretty shaken. Her car had some damage to the light and bumper. There was no phonecall from her! Marnie from the Met proved to be interesting but surtitles were badly needed! To the Horniman museum to see the World gallery and have a meal. Catching up on Songs of Praise who do we find but Daniel Moult and Ashley Wagner at Birmingham conservatoire!

3 exhibitions and 2 proms!

Swam 20. Fast lane closed for life saving exams which meant we had fast and slow in one lane and the awful woman with the handbats charging up and down the middle. One lady was wearing spectacles! Enjoyed Pappano's series on voices especially Janet Baker. To CML and got some full scores. I was lae at the cathedral for guiding but there were 6 on so left scores in locker and went to the National Gallery.  Soundscapes interesting but variable. Nico Muhly and the Wilton diptych worked well creating the right atmosphere as did the Lake Keitele picture. National portrait gallery BP awards I went for the egg tempera double portrait and the 2nd prize winner!   Lovely travel photos of the year at Royal Geographical Society!  20 pages cut in La Valse and programme order changed but still enjoyable! Mozart, Messiaen and Ravel piano concerto. We went to the bar between Proms and had ale. The Sinatra was good and we left after an hour. People were dancing in the gallery and mobile p...

Berlin Philharmoniker

To Balham library to get scores and reserved books including the Hesse Siddahrtha. Then to Morden library to get Gershwin score. Home to find Liz had gone to IKEA with Bruce. Carole rang to say her Mum had died aged 92. To pre Prom talk about the future of orchestras which seems secure although German subsidies are so much bigger than British ones. The recent appearance of orchestras at the Olympics is important although the LSO were not live at the opening of the Paralympics which is a shame. London 2012 needs to be continued with more outreach to new audiences and especially schools and hospitals. The concert was full again and again the audience were quiet! Brahms piano concerto 2 was very well played. Why did we have to have Lutoslawski 3? What a row! We left and heard the Dvorak encore on the recording. Today have caught up on some recorded concerts on TV including Anna Meredith Hands Free NYO piece not using instruments and Nico Muhly. and Varese Tuning Up. Also Emily Howard and ...
