Holidays

Played Bach Heut triumphiret, Stanford on St Columba and Willan on Vulpius. Folake and I sang A brighter dawn is breaking. Jerry brought the icon of St John from Crete - delighted by it. Songs of Praise senior choir well done Helen Vickery! Some very fine singing and quiet singing too! Interesting interview with a Chinese priest in The Tablet this week. He cannot understand why choirs take a summer break with the organist in the U.K. as in Singapore the choir sings 52 weeks of the year. I rather think it  does the congregation good to have sing more in the summer when there is no choir. Enjoyable recorded radio 3 programme on pilgrimage. Now watching Antiques roadshow. Watched Equator from the air. Interesting programme on the Mayflower especially as we have visited where it was filmed. Brexit party doing alarmingly well in MEP elections.

Henry is 2

Gareth Malone does it again! Lovely programme about a choir at the school next to Grenfell tower. Both to Mass. 2 hours assembling the kitchen for Henry's birthday. How I love the Swedes! Despite the rain we took him to Barnado's The Triangle softplay. Later delivered the kitchen and he loved it. Liz went to servers council. When I left he asked for Agga - so sweet! Watched race round world, Couple come dine with me and Teresa May loses Brexit vote again.

Adriana

To Mass after being awake at 2. Fabulous Adriana Lecouvreur from the Met. What a production and the singing and acting from all the cast especially Netrebko! Now waiting to see Stan and Ollie somewhat different. Stan and Ollie highly recommended. It has the feelgood factor. Reminded me of the Morecambe and Wise story. Very nice meal at Cafe El Posso in East Dulwich. Liz had shrimps Mexican style and I had sea bass. My 3 prize books from the Tablet crossword have come! Could have done with a short guide to Aquinas when I started at Heythrop! Chester Zoo. May defeated in parliament. BBC Icons entertainers who to choose? Has to be Chaplin!

Croydon Minster

Swim, Mass and coffee. Apparently the abuse I received yesterday could be considered assault. Alas I had no phone with me or even a pen. The dent in the car door will be repaired but there was no need for the shouting from the other driver. To Charterhouse Chapel which is being repaired for Peace of mind music and words on the theme of apples. I did not like the soprano much. What a joy to be in Croydon minster for their first broadcast evensong. Martin How's anthem splendid and thrilling end of Howells Westminster service. The organ sounds terrific. The Ireland and chanting were great. Next time can we sing a hymn please? Lots of singers in the congregation. Liz was at school. To Dulwich catenians - nice food. On return watched the Apprentice. Thursday Liz is 71 - she liked the books and musical mug. Scarf and flowers. Both to Mass. Art and good work on Lourdes oil. Both to dentist - one filling needed covering. Chaos over Brexit. Delicous birthday meal at Mantanah Thai restauran...

Scores

To mosaic and the new one is now traced out on the board. It is going to be complicated! Van Gogh Starry night. Skipped tai chi and got lots of scores from Westminster Music library and Balham library (the latter by car as trains disrupted). Liz took Ciarán to Vaughan school concert. Got hooked on Wimbledon - great match on centre court Warinkwa and Dimitrov. To Norwood Catenians (Dennis in Ireland). 10 plus 8 visitors. Interesting chat to Richard Mills about WWI and Brexit which he supports. Inside the American embassy is fascinating.
