Liz had the scores for last night's concert. Ligeti's Lontano is almost impossible to follow and must require great courage to know when to play! Bravo National Youth orchestra! The trains have been changed yet again so going later as the bells seem to be on holiday! Bells were back and actually started again while I was playing! Played Karg Elert Nun danket for our wedding anniversary also Peeters and Philip Moore on All Saints. Mozart Ave verum at communion. Fr Jerry got me to illustrate his quiz with Jerusalem and Panis angelicus which is top of the charts! Had a good chat about the washing of feet and Lourdes. The congregation sang Shrine Mass 1 well. The 2 Brandenburg Proms did not come over well in the hall. Harpsichord was lost. Brilliant trumpet and solo playing but I dropped off and the same at the talk on classic literature. Marilyn brought lovely cakes from Oakham bakery. Swam 21. 2 splendid Proms HKGruber and Hagan Hardenberger on trumpet and Esa-Pekka Salonen conducting Schoenberg, Dutilleux and Mahler 1. How I like a conductor who follows the composer's markings!  Reuben Thomas  you were singing? In between I picked up scores at Central music library, lunched at Cóte and visited the RGS environmental photographic exhibition and walked to the Serpentine. A wonderful talk by Eva Scholl step-sister of Anne Frank on surviving Auschwitz and what needs to be done now to combat racism and discrimination. She defended Ken Livingstone and spoke about the Palestinians. Liz slipped and graxed her elbow outside West Norwood station and I seem to have dropped my new right hand hearing aid on the bus last night. It was annoying me again and I took it out and put it in my back pocket. Parked at Kent House because of the strike but in fact our lines were unaffected as far as we could see!

Up at 8 to go to Cadogan Hall to get tickets. Met lady from interfaith group at bus stop who told me Ivor has shingles. Saw Rosa and lady from Chile in the queue. To cathedral to take Liz's robes and signed 2 Pax christi petitions. Saw Rose and William. To Clapham Junction - new ring will take 2 weeks to be made smaller. To Kensington Chimes shop and the hall to get seat ticket (first in queue). RGS Travel photographer of the year - excellent photos. Sketching silver at V and A and close look at the miniatures which are breathtaking. To Cadogan Hall and saw Hannah. Lapland Chamber orchestra (none of whom come from Lapland!) conducted by John Storgards. CPE Bach, Honegger and Sibelius Rakastava. Hakan Hardenberger played Birtwistle and PMaxwell Davies Sinfonia - both composers are 80 and were present. Incredible trumpet part but neither work is pleasing in any way!
