The weekend

Bruce finished the boxes and cleared up - looks great. Saturday Liz to college and missed confirmation visit to to Tyburn much to Fr Paolo's dismay! To St George Hanover Square - fine new American organ and played Handel. Sat in Hanover Square to eat my lunch and saw 7/11 memorial in Grosvenor Square and sat in Mayfair library reading papal documents on dialogue. To Grosvenor chapel and another fine Bill Drake organ where I played Stanley and Handel. A good visit and sat in Hyde Park and saw the London bombings memorial. Met Liz at M & S. Fr Archer at Mass. Sunday played Guest on St Fulbert, Harker on Westminster Abbey and Willan on Vulpius -got a clap! Only 15 there. On tram to Merton Park for party for first communion of Tracy's daughter. Met a nice Mum but the Irish music was loud - had to take hearing aids out! Liz was needed at evensong to sing alto - Howells Coll Reg and O pray for the peace plus Benediction. Watched Antiques roadshow and The Village was moving. Prog...

Handel

Took Liz to the station and on return played through "Worthy is the Lamb" and sang tenor arias from Messiah. Played Vernon Griffiths on "Dominus regit me" and got a clap for "Worthy". Happily signed the contract and practised. Started work on the Knitter/Thompson essay. Liz worked on her essay. I went to evensong where we sang Dyson in F and Tommy's "My beloved spake". Weeded front garden ready for the new stones coming tomorrow morning. Watched Antiques roadshow and The Village which continues to be bleak.

Bruce home

Louise, Liz and Ciaran set off for Gatwick. Dennis took me to St Michael's where there was a congregation of 85 it being the anniversary of death and a lunch and annual meeting after service. Bruce and EmmaJane EJ from Jersey arrived safely and we had a lovely lunch of pork and cheesecake. They went off sightseeing in London and Dennis set off for Rochdale. He agreed to them staying at Glyn Close for a short time. The skis are heavy and are being stored here for the moment! Watched Come dine with me, Antiques roadshow and The village.

Easter Day

Liz went off to the cathedral for morning prayer and Sung Mass. Completed the Tablet crossword - still have 1 and a half issues to catch up on! At St Michael's decided Howells Saraband would not work at all -  the trumpet stop is quite strident so played Orgelbuchlein. We used Common worship and the "carousel" setting - composer unknown for Gloria, Sanctus and Agnus - it lacks appeal. Thine be the glory, Alleluia sing to Jesus, Alleluia! give thanks to the risen Lord and The day of resurrection. Psalm and Celtic alleluia confidently sung. Biggest attendance of the week - 32. Average for the Triduum around 18 in church. Hallelujah chorus was appreciated. Car to Selhurst and got to Acton via Willesden Junction. Jo, Terry, Cara and Jack came for a delicious lunch of lamb and lemon meringue pie. Took Sean's mosaic and he was on great form. Ciaran was tired and had too much chocolate. Liz liked her luxury egg - it got cracked at Heythrop. Home to Antiques roadshow. Watche...
