Ciarán's baptism
Picked up Clare and Josie and arrived early at East Acton so had apple pie and coffee. Fr Danny at St Aidan's was a delight and we laughed about the spies from the Cathedral. The famous Sutherland picture worth 1 and a half million was covered up during building works! Ciarán seemed happy beforehand, cried during the ceremony and then smiled for the photos including a photo with everyone. We then went to the Goldsmiths Arms for a hog roast and delicious cakes which was great! Managed to get a family photo. Roger and Helen had come over from Ireland. Bruce and Pat Maher were godparents and I had a good chat to Pat. Also met NCT class folks notably Rufus and Merle whose parents teach/taught at St Paul's school. I have an invite to go and see Holst's chair! Such nice people. We left around 8 with left over pork and cakes! Got an early night but I was really upset about John Linney's email about Good Friday. To say that I show a lack of commitment to the church after nearly 6 years of faithful service is a bit rich and thoughts of resigning came up. Add to that all the fuss over the organ. Vickie was delighted with the card for David's baptism at Easter Vigil and all was fine. We sorted out the confusion and the organ advisor will come first before the organ is tuned. She also said she would tell the choir her views about Good Friday. I told the choir why I wanted to sing the MacMillan and explained that I had offered to get someone else in on Good Friday and offered alternatives but this was not wanted by Vickie.
The choir sang well and we did Arcadelt Ave Maria and David Ogden's "As a mother" and Quigley's "There is a longing" for the prayers. The modern language Prodigal Son worked well and a new Eucharistic prayer for children too. Somebody complimented me on my piano playing! Bought a cake for Mother's day. To Selhurst and fast train to be at 12 noon Mass at the cathedral - Fr Alexander. Saw Louise Sage and then to Hammersmith on the bus for a delightful family lunch at Dartmouth Castle. Had rib eye steak and tiramisu! To MacMillan rehearsal at Heythrop after sitting in Kensington Gardens - beginning to feel more confident! Late home - wait for train!
