Considering Holy week

 SM and S. Lovely retreat from the Aventine Rome with Dom Brendan. Meditation. Sion centre Dr Liam Tracey on Holy Week liturgies. Alfred was a pain about Maltese popular piety! Battery replaced in the car £100. Played the piano. Scabs have formed on thumbs and fingers but it is slow progress. Belmont vespers. SMITF Lent group the most challenging so far.  Thursday woke up late. Enjoyed a shower. To art and we talked about our work. Liz at gym. Churches trust on Italian Renaissance altar pieces. Tai chi - it finishes next week! Good LSi animators discussion. Art and Christianity on film and religion. CAT on pilgrimage. Lord Sugar has Harpreet as his new apprentice. Fr Denis Paul died - a good and kind priest.  Friday SM and S. Nice chat to Sarah. Soviet music in WWII Gresham lecture. St John's Annunciation Mass Hassler Dixit Maria setting, Victoria Ave Maria. The boys

 Friday great disappointment as Ciaran tested positive so our visit today and until tomorrow cancelled. Have not seen them since Christmas! SM, S and B. 4 of us in Lent group and a good chat. Tobias Frank on Dupre was very interesting.  Very sunny. Pleasant walk around the lake and tea at Kelsey Park. Lots of birds. Civitas document on Islam in Europe and legislation. Belmont vespers. The highlights of Red Nsoe day were the Repair shop and ENO with Helen George singing beautifully. Tom Daley too. Saturday lie-in. Loved reading "The Library" by Bella Osborne. SM walk at Forty Hall, S and B. Romero service from SM. Cookery demo by Adelia Easter treats. Belmont. Watched The countess and the Russian billionaire and The Good Liar with McKellen and Mirren. What a treat to sing at St John's today. Sicut cervus and Wood in the Phrygian mode. Excellent sermon from Fr John. Met Ridge Taylor Morgan who has had an interesting career in opera. Lent 2

 Sunday woke at 9.45! Liz to St John's and she returned upset as there were white marks on the front mudguard. Something had touched the car probaby overnight.  My fingers still not healed. St Martin's in the Fields readings for Lent 3. Sam Wells excellent sermon about manure. Ukranian anthem. A good sermon from Southwark cathedral. Blackfriars. Bridget played well at Caterham. London assurance NT at home hilarious. Crufts won by retriever. Watched a film about the last Zimbabwe election and the corruption surrounding it. Poem for each day of the year from NT excellent. Trevor Noah very funny about Zuma. Monday woke late. Feeling a bit down as I can't paint or play the piano. Watched a good programme on the Tonia Harding ice skating incident. Repair shop. Peter Grimes from Munich. Andy Warhol series. Commonwealth Day service. Colette's meeting was good with Bishop John there. Bridget will play on Sunday. Laudato Si' animators Europe zoom. Tom Daley's heroic walk...

Medtner

SM walk  Golders Hill park. B and S. Excellent recital of Nikolai Medtner at SJAlexander Kapreyev and Natalia Lomeiko. The violin sonata was fiendishly difficult and she played it superbly. Collection for Ukraine. Worked on jigsaw.  First Sunday of Lent played Demessieux on Attende Domine (new to me) we sang Hear us O lord and Lasceux Fugue in G minor. AJ won pottery throw down. Jigsaw completed - tricky to the end. Lovely evensong at SJ Walmisley in D minor, Wesley Wash me throughly, Purcell Miserere. Richard Pilliner was playing.  Monday swam 20. SM, B amd S. Liz to gym cleaned up and got stuff out.. Nice flowers came. Dennis came with me to King's on the bus and we saw Dr Creamer who was so nice. He said the moles on my back were not a problem and treated my hands with liquid nitrogen. We were early and back very quickly. Prof Mullan on coincidence in the novel. Adrian and Terence came for dinner. It was a delightful evening. Liz cooked a delicious meal.  Tuesday....

Ash Wednesday

 B, SM and S. Meditation. Jigsaw.  Ash Wednesday played Hendrik Andriessen on Ause der tiefe and Buxtehude Jesus Christus unser Heiland. We sang Miserere by Sweelinck. Clarissa and Burdette came. Thankfully she did not mention the Schubert! Missed the first SMITF session. Thursday SM, B and S. To art and a good start on Ukranian picture. Liz to gym. Cheltenham prayers. St John BOsco college rang with 2 speakers - we may have to decide if we do not get enough! Excellent talk on art and Passiontide in the National Gallery. Gresham on coral reefs. Anna Keay on the English revolution. Jigsaw. Apprentice. Cooked another delicious meal. Friday Swam 20, B, SM, S. Liz to gym. Chat to Felicity about the Friday Lent group we are leading. RSCM lecture Martin Baker on George Malcolm. Guardian obit for FJ. Completed sails for jigsaw - tricky to the last piece. Fell over when cooking - my foot caught on the dishwasher and scraped my left forearm! Would I lie to you? was good.
