The saga of the tyre inflators continues - 3 returned to Argos as the batteries do not hold the charge! In the end got one from Amazon which plugs in.
Saturday lovely SM from Regent's Park.To Croydon central library to promote Trees4Croydon and had some interesting chats. To Mass at Beckenham - a curious homily on the Trinity mentioning the German Synod as against unity. Liz got nice food from M and S so we ate it in the car. To St George Beckenham for Tallis Scholars 50th anniversary concert. Lovely singing but it would have been good to have had translations in the programme. Saw Janey. Kate next to me sings with Gill Beach in Beckenham chorale! I preferred the second half with Rutter and Part.
Trinity Sunday played Willan on Nicaea and Wyton on St Patrick's Breastplate. Did posters for Songs of Praise July 9 and the fair on 24th. We sang Schubert Holy, holy, holy. Nigel was there. Evensong Murrill in E, Jeffcoat and Rizza. Lark ascending, Elgar 2, Parsifal prelude. Programme on Holst and RVW. Ten pound Poms not so violent this week.
Monday to Addiscombe for funeral of Ida Monteiro. Del was pleased to see us and Declan was there. Sisley mucked up May the choirs of angels! To aerobics but no swim as pool was busy. Read The Tablet. Sean came. Part of Odysseus by Bruch from Paris. Sisters of Sion zoom on Laudato Si' was positive.
Tuesday to Addiscombe for Catenian circle mass. Fr Keith did a great job. Tom Tannion and I did the offertory procession. Saw several people Jennie, lady from St Chad's who asked about Bruce, Joseph who wants to join Balham circle. by the time I had dealt with emails it was too late to go swimming so to quiet time and an interesting chat about processed food and poverty. Wednesday swim. Liz slept late. She took stuff to St John's. To Greenlawns memorial park for burial of John Bennett. SLIFG folk there. I was early and it was a lovely day. Hearse arrived 15 minutes late then the Muslim men carry the coffin. The imam said a few prayers. We were asked to scatter earth in the grave then the JCB filled it up. Saw Tema. I took Jon dal Din to East Croydon station. Sewing Bee and Repair shop.
Thursday swim and art started new red picture. To Fairfield Hall for Andy Scott's recital - quite an event after such a long gap - 2016. Chat to Robert over free coffee in the Cube - he sang in LSO chorus. Norman Harper was very chatty. 80 seats sold which is good. LSiUK had 17 there including 3 new animators. It was great to hear what has been going on. To the Chancery for the organists dinner - food was good, long gap before main course. The Harpers were good company and Philip Berg spoke well. It all took a long time and we got home at 11.
Friday swim and Unacc and a long chat to Dot and she told me how Bill fell and hit his head. She did not mention a funeral and I told her we are going away. Saw Judy when we were loading plants into the car to take to Clare. Rita wanted me to speak at KCC service but we will be at The Trojans!
