Sussex

 Friday no swim or UNACC to Nymans for coffee and sausage roll and short walk but it was raining. Bought 2 plants and calendar. To Sue's and a lovely meal and chat. Slept well. Sat Lancing college at 10.30 2 organs Frobenius and Walker. 6 young players most impressive including a 9 year old. Lunch with the Gartons - lovely bungalow. To All Saints Hove but no parking so tea at Wakehurst Place and sung Mass at Worth which was another treat. Watched Face the music, My music and Joyce Genfell tribute. 

Sunday played Rene Vierne Prayer and Harris Processional. Nice chat to Nigel they had been to Glyndebourne to see the Poulenc. To Hobbycraft and got black elastic so fixed my crosses and bought canvases. Evensong Sumsion, Tye and Mundy. Chocolate cake for Claire's 70th. Vienna Phil from Shonbrunn was lovely and some unusual Franch repertoire.

Monday woke early and worked on jigsaw. Caught up on SM from Sat. Swim. Aerobics was full. New tap in garden so the new hose works! NT at home Phedra bad language but amazing acting. Programme on the Nazis and homosexuals. Last Sisters of Sion on LSi. 

Tuesday a strange day. We finished the jigsaw food of the 40s but as a result missed my swim. Had lunch instead of quiet time. To chemist to get cream (had to pay for it!) Bus very slow to St George's cathedral only to find diocesan choir not singing and we had not been contacted so we came home. Rain. Wimbledon. 

Wed Henry came (teacher's strike). He asked for a canvas so I gave him a big one and he did a very colourful painting. Watched King Charles at St Giles cathedral - lovely music. To cafe and then to Horse Guards for spectacular beating retreat. Sewing Bee.

Thursday Liz to St George's a fibrous growth so that's a relief. She saw the nice consultant at Guy's yesterday so physio offered. Swim. To Thornton Heath library to see Constable The Cornfield from National Gallery. Art group all went over for a talk and a session on Croydon history. Bit of Lsi webinar.  Zoom with Brendan Salford trustee very informative. Chat to Clare. Wimbledon.

Friday it was so hot 29 degrees so did not go for swim and started a new jigsaw. Wimbledon was excellent. 

Sat 10am Mass at St John's for David Smith. Julie, Bruce, Rhona and Heather were there. To Our Lady's for wedding of Isabella and Francis Bunch which was lovely. 6 priests! Choir were good. Soloist for Ave Maria - breathing ot great and set too high for her. Everybody went in the hall. We met Mark who plays at St Edmund's. After Mass spoke to him as he plays well but far too loud. He is going on Oxbridge course.

Sunday Songs of Praise was much enjoyed. I played O love that wilt for the first time! Played Chappell and Prizeman section. Wimbledon and jigsaw. 4 jigsaws donated to SJ fair. MND from the Globe 2016 controversial not least 3 Americans and chnaging text and sfex of Helena. 

Monday paid £6 for fare to London Bridge 9.30 at Guys they made right ear mold not left but Elise did adjust things to stop whistling. To Tate Modern to see Mondrian and Af Klint - she either a genius or mad. Coffee and custard cake. Liz went to gym and swim. Colette's meeting on zoom. To Phoenix centre for talk on St John's Wort. Won bottle of red on raffle. Met Maureen who is a Scorpio. Hot again. More Wimbledon and jigsaw. 

Tuesday swim. Quiet time. Wimbledon and jigsaw. Faith for the climate zoom. 

Wed swim. Liz went to Clare's. Wimbledon. Hot again. JIgsaw.

Thursday chat to Ann. To art and started drawing. To Fairfield Hall and Norman gave an entertaining programme including How, Coleridge-Taylor and Thalben-Ball's variations for pedals. Finally got to play the organ after 48 years of waiting! Andrew Moore Nobilmente. LSiUK zoom. 

Friday jigsaw finished. Swim and UNACC Liz came. She was not impressed at £6 each. Cooked. First night of the Proms with a Sibelius novelty, Grieg piano concerto and a fine piece by Ukranian woman Let there be light. Young person's guide. The presenters on TV were as annoying as ever. 

Sat to Mount St for excellent day on the Synod - 27 there and stimulating discussion. To Ealing Abbey for Vespers and Mass mostly sung. To St Peter's Ealing for 130th anniversary of the Bishop organ with Martin Baker on splendid form. Orb and Sceptre, Fidelis, Lemmens. Widor 5 with an impro on coronation hymns instead of the slow movement. The really odd thing was an invite at interval to have wine and see the Lady chapel - glasses but no liquid! Home by 10.30. 

Played Dupont Meditation and Jongen Petit prelude - both new pieces for me! Chris came at the end to ask me to do a Munch with music recital in October!!! Nice cake with coffee and Sarah Goatcher. Wimbledon men's final was amazing and Carlos Alcaraz won! To evensong Philip Moore, Tye and Godfrey. Norman payed and Pimm's afterwards. Home to watch the Prom - the Four seasons with folk interpolations. Watched more of the tennis. What a match!

Monday swim and aerobics. Haircut. Animal park. Wrote review of Jonathan's concert and did August music list. Need to check if there is a service sheet for the Assumption. To St Michael South Beddington for induction of Berni. She was delighted to see us and quite a few from St John's. The bishop was excellent. Choir very good and had a chat to Peter the organist who has been there 20 years. Organ needs replacing. Saw Moira and met priest from Warlingham who is involved in Jaimée's appointment. 

Tuesday swim. Woke too early, Contacted insurers syndicate. The Wife of Willesden hilarious adaptation of Chaucer. Prom Rach Pno con 1 with Stephen Hough and Mahler 1. BBC Phil Mark Wigglesworth. 

Wed Liz to physio at Guys and got new Ipad at Battersea Power station. Took 4 bags of garden refuse to Dennis and took quilt in to be washed - cost has gone up! Swim. To Catenians and met Fr Varkay. 

Thursday listened to last night's Prom - Coleridge Taylor violin concerto. Swim and art. Christian Muslim forum zoom fascinating about House of Good. Spanish music at Prom including Lalo. 

Friday swim and Unacc. Bill's funeral at last on Aug 2 - nothing religious. To West Norwood picturehouse to see Oppenheimer. First part hard to follow and very loud. Amazing acting and photography. It's 3 hours! Pizza. Watched the Coleridge Taylor, Rachmaninoff and Beethoven 5 Prom.

Sat Hurtado on friendship. Rain! Test washed out at Old Trafford. Programmes on Isle of Wight, Jersey and Guernsey. Prom Horrible histories'Orrible opera. Might be better on TV. Mass at Beckenham Fr Steve is good! Tobins there. Prom from Sage Mozart and Brahms. Sorted out magazines. 

Sunday Service of the word Barbara said I played too fast. 10 at Walsingham. We sang Sheep may safely graze and I played Rawsthorne Sortie. Noel changed light on the organ for me. To Eureka a nice drive via Woldingham to top of Westerham Hill.. Nice garden tree planted for Nelson Riddle by Alan Hall. To St John's fair lovely pizza, lots of kids there. When I went back to fetch Liz Henry and Dennis were there. Prom Be 9 - some sopranos not on top Gs and Elysium! Prom from Gateshead of choral music. Antiques roadshow repeat from Stonor.
