Jersey

Monday nice chat to Ann. Swim and aerobics. Jim will answer any alarm calls when we are away. Fabulous Carmelites at the Proms. Robin Ticciati so expressive! He was a joy to watch as we were in G stalls. Orchestral details one had never noticed, glorious singing and acting. Nice to see Lionel. Tricky jigsaw. As Liz told me I would not get it done by Tuesday of course I finished it at 11.59 !

Tuesday packed. Dennis came down. Buses to East Croydon and train to Gatwick in good time. Got searched and trousers were threatening to fall down! Assistance to the plane and Liz went to duty free. Bruce picked us up and we went to Pizza Express.

Wednesday to Janet and Richard's for coffee and a nice chat and Janet brought us back as Liz's phone needed to be connected. We enjoyed Samares garden and saw some new areas - the carriages and tropical garden. To Doubtfire for delicious steaks.

Thursday to Jersey museum and Emma was off so that was nice. Always new things to see. Bruce took us to the rock pool and had a dip. I wasn't so confident as nothing to hold onto and sand and seaweed. Cold at first. To Pizza romana - service a bit erratic but the food was great.

Friday the Zoo and saw sleepy sloth bears and new tortoise house. Geladas. Sketched gorillas and orangs and tortoise. To local fish restaurant which was the best meal. I had plaice. Roseville bistro.

Saturday a quiet day. Crazy golf which was fun and cream tea at the Poplars. Sketched at St Brelade's. To Casa mia to eat and then to Battle of the flowers. Fantastic parade floats, dancers, bands ending with a strobe show. Really loved it.

Sunday walked to St Luke's which is high Anglican and met Michael the organist afterwards. Assumption. Packed and to airport - plane delayed. Long wait for wheelchairs but we got taken to the train itself! Home by 6.30 in taxi. Flowers at front needing water! Watched prom Mozart horn concerto played with his foot and Rach 2. My letter is in Tablet - about the altar on the East wall in new ecumenical chapel.

Monday woke early and then slept. Sound from SM Nazareth on Sat kept disappearing which was a shame. Swim and aerobics. Washing. Decided not to go to Phoenix centre. To Assumption Mass at Beckenham with Ashley in a stunning blue vestment. Only connect, Univ challenge Earth. Listened to some Prom sections.
