Christmas letter

To QEH on a filthy night and buses delayed, Allowed in during reading by Rory Kinnear and in fact the seats were better than where we would have been sitting! Bevan family consort - what a treat! Strictly result. 

Monday chat to Ann and to see Dr who is very nice. Referred to Kings again for hand, Daktacort, physio next Wednesday on back. Swim and aerobics. Antiques roadshow, Maria Callas interviews with Lord Harewood. Picked up Henry from school and he made up the Advent wreath and painted his Diwali cake which has hardened and the salt shines out! Mastermind, Only connect, University challenge, Masterchef.

Tuesday boiler serviced. 

Wed to Kendal arriving in the dark. The Dene Court hotel is lovely and a pool which we used 3 times. Comfortable room, excellent food, Porridge for breakfast with walnuts and berries and honey and poached eggs. 

Thursday took buses to get to Bowness for the World of Beatrix Potter which was very well done. Had sandwiches and tea there. The servers dinner for Lancaster diocese was very good. Bishop very friendly and quite a few priests there. 

Friday headed home - the snow actually came down on Saturday so were lucky. Quite a long train ride and no bus so got tube and then bus which the way we went to Euston.

Sat to St John's Nicholas Ansdell-Evans played his own compositions and Poulenc and Faure. St Andrew's school to be Father Christmas - I managed to split the felt trousers. Santa parade did not work as well as grotto. 2 Boys "You're not Father Christmas" "So you don't want presents then" . Liz was delayed coming back from Acton so mass at St Chad's. Strictly.

Sunday Advent 1. Advent 1 finally played some Reger - his prelude on Wachet auf also Walther’s variations and Martin How’s Advent prelude. We sang Veiled in darkness by Glenn Rudolph. Lovely Advent carols at St John the Evangelist, Upper Norwood. Talking Shakespeare and Bake off.

This week have been affected by my back and did not go out just rested hot water bottle really works and simple exercises. King Henry VI part 3 Richard III Hollow crown. Part of Henry V from Globe. Series on Julius Caesar. Living planet III. Excellent NT Kelly Jackson. 3 parts of the Beckhams on Netflix - a nice guy. Callas programmes. On Wed saw physiotherapist - pulled muscle in lower back. I went to Electric house for excellent Climate Fresk. Christmas letters and cards done.

Friday Liz went to Hampton for Fr Philip's anniversary Mass but went to the wrong station and church so came home. Sat lie-in. Put Christmas tree up. Did not go to St John's fair. Mass at Beckenham and avoided Advent carols which included Silent night and Hark the herald! Strictly semi-finals. The Corn is green and Best of enemies from NT both excellent.

Prelude Wachet auf JSBach. Anthem Come now O prince of peace. Organ Rhapsody on Helmsley William Lloyd Webber. COAT Sunday. Good practice for carols and Paul came. Lights on the tree. Secrets of Plymouth aquarium. A feast of Leonard Bernstein on TV including recording West Side story and the Jewishness of Mahler. 

Monday chat to Ann. Swim and aerobics back OK. Colette's meeting on zoom. To school for Aladdin. Henry did well. Liz to UCM meal. Only connect, University challenge. 

Tuesday swim, Picture house twice in one day? Florencia en El Amazonas from the Met colourful, great singing and now #ROHnutcracker which we really enjoyed.

Wed to nativity at school then swim. Singing was much better this year. Put up garden tree and hall notes. To Liberal Synagogue St John's Wood for Interfaith Channukah. 200 there and lots of people I know. Liz brought Henry home.

Thursday Paul from Croydon hearing resources came and gave us free new doorbell, alarm clock and TV hearing aid. We ordered new handsets for the phone and collected them. The batteries take 16 hours to charge up. I went to AgeUK and had a nice chat then to Sainsbury's to pick up Liz. Bob Chilcott carols from SM. Last animators meeting of the year was great with Sr Margaret leading prayers. We then drove to Caterham and traffic was bad. Carol singing at the Fountain with Paul on trumpet. It was really good. Maybe we need a different venue. King's guard and Christmas at M and S.

Friday Organ tuner coming back on Wed as bottom A stuck on the swell in the middle of Caterham school carols. Tristan was very helpful. Set up the new phones. To Unacc for Christmas lunch which was very good. The duck was hard to cut! Came home and both fell asleep.

Saturday CSN Advent day was good. Put lights on tree outside and set up the crib. Mass at Beckenham. Mark was serving so this is clearly now a quiet Mass. Fr Damian called it Gaudate Sunday and left out the antiphons at start and communion. Ellie won Strictly! I voted for Bobbie. Watched again Christmas at Sandringham.
