Lent 2 continued

 Thursday art and started on VE day painting. Aerobics and Liz came. Swam 20. To Lidl very busy. Lovely and sunny in the garden. Bruce arrived. Interview with Lord Sugar. Apprentice. Root and Branch Tony Cassidy on the Eucharist. 

Friday booked car at Honda Orpington for washer bottle. Ironing done. Unacc and 10 at class and Liz came for lunch. Liz went to get her cross fixed. To Natural History museum Visions of nature some displays not working. Wildlife photographer of the year stunning as usual. I think the manatee and baby should have won. To Pret and Liz met me there. To Mountbatten Festival Royal Marines on great form. Ukranian singers and Norwegian composer. Tribute to evacuated children. Liz bought a Royal Marines bear. Home at 11.30. 

A fascinating Saturday. Bruce was up early and off to Hammersmith. To St Martin in the Fields via East Croydon and London Bridge. Oscar Romero service. Martin Prendergast organised the music. Richard Carter presided and at last met Cardinal Michael Fitzgerald. In fact he had lunch downstairs with Fr Joe Ryan, Patricia and another Bridgettine from Windsor. Had a great chat. We then ate at Breadline cafe. No buses so walked to Embankment and got to Allen Hall by 3 for an excellent talk by Canon John O'Leary and after tea a tour with Max. Sung Vespers. Not keen on venrating the relic of St John Southworth. We were back by 7.30. Enjoyed The Priests BBC documentary. 

Sunday Lovely service at St John the Evangelist, Upper Norwood Byrd 4 part Mass Morley Nolo mortem. Jacqui Frase de Souza spoke well about her life feeding children. To Secret Garden to use the voucher from St John Caterham. Larger pot for the olive tree. Pruned the rose bush as instructed. Dennis came with Henry to get his birthday presents and I took them to St Bartholomew Norbury as it tuned wet. Vespers from Leeds cathedral. Birdsong - amazing Irishman collecting songs of the all the Irish birds. Bruce was back for dinner. Toad in the hole. Antiques roadshow.

Monday chat to Ann. To Croydon carers centre and met a very nice lady who mentioned Linda who runs a monthly session for carers dealing with dementia and she duly appeared! The centre will close for two weeks in April as the wretched council has changed the provider leaving the staff uncertain of their future. Swam and aerobics. Liz did garden and I cut back the rose and swept the patio. The other place is an amazing place from NT based on Antigone. Mary Berry 90 tribute. Mastermind, chess masters, University challenge went to a tiebreak. Progress on the jigsaw at last I missed the Green party asylum group meeting.

Tuesday SM and Swk. Swim. To West Norwood to see Romeo and Juliet from the Royal Ballet. Fabulous, the Prokofiev score is superb and what a production. It's 60th anniversary. Kenneth Macmillan a genius. Review of Edward II, Hancock's half hour. We went to Sung mass for the Annunciation at St John's.

Wed swim. It was nice and quiet. To Penge Men in sheds to take old paint and to Beckenham Methodist for coffee and practice. To Kelsey Park and walked round the lake and saw lots of birds. Had lunch. Sunny. Evensong by Tiffin school choir from Barnes. Gresham lecture on photography in S.A. Prof Tamar Garb. SM Lent course on repentance. Princess Anne.

Thursday dropped Liz at GP and she went to see the CAFOD walk at school. Art, aerobics and cut my swim short. Dashed home to see Laudato Si' seminar only to find the zoom is full and I am on Youtube first speaker Spanish and no English subtitles. Mark Jesuit from US was great. Olive tree in new pot. I cleaned my oil paint tubes. Interview about new Walkure with Tony Pappano and Barry. LsiUk zoom went well. Apprentice TV selling.

Friday to the tip. Halfords. Unacc and a good lunch which Liz came for, She then went to the school Mothers tea. Mick came. To Halfords Purley Way and new wing mirror at last! Minutes of meeting last night. Rest of Walkure discussion. Progress on the jigsaw.

Saturday A most enjoyable day playing organs at St Gabriel’s and St Saviour Pimlico lunch at the White Swan and bravo Thomas Allery at Bloomsbury Baptist. I played Andrew Moore and Brahms. Thomas played JSB, Darke and Stanford. Chat to him at the tea. Had a long chat to the Shepherds. The situation for the organ is dire. The number of adverts for Holy Week substitutes has gone right down. I was too late for St Anselm Tooting on Easter Day. Heard some of Moby Dick from the Met.
