Bognor Regis
Thursday May 22 we set off for Bognor Regis and found the air Bnb eventually. Very nice house and garden. Only one en suite. Picked up Ann and Paul at the station. Shopping.
Friday to Weald and Downland museum which is lovely. Bought flour and bread. To Chichester cathedral for evensong the choir on great form. Top line is mixed. Organ not used at all Parry My soul there is a country, Holst Nunc dimittis and Bevan Magnificat. Excellent 950th anniversary exhibition. Louise arrived.
Saturday Ann went shopping with Louise. To Hotham Park cafe. To Bognor carnival parade and carnival. Very white!
Sunday Sung Eucharist at Holy Cross North Bersted. Lovely family lunch at pub.
Monday Dennis was late coming down. We went to Ferring Beach for brunch. It was very windy. To Northdown gardens - what grows on chalk.
Tuesday met at 9 at Hotham Park and got a photo of everyone! Louise headed for home. We were booked on Chichester shop canal cruise and it poured! To Chichester museum which was very good and soup at Cathedral cafe. Had a rest. To pink pub nearby which was very good.
Wednesday took them to station and we cleared up and went to RAF Tangmere which was fascinating. Lots of planes Battle of Britain films and memorabilia. Cream tea. Home by 2.30
Thursday art and aerobics. Lady rolled off chair - she had taken medication without food. Class cancelled. Lovely Ascension Day service at SJ followed by fireworks and fizz.
Friday Unacc and came home to fetch Liz for lunch. Organ practice. Took garden waste to Dennis's. Race around the world.
Saturday pm Merton Interfaith walk went on minibus. Salvation Army run by Koreans and Faith in action. Wimbledon Spiritualist church - what do they sing? Seventh Day Adventists very welcoming and youngsters sang for us. Did not go in Hindu temple got train back so we could go to Mass at Anerley. Fr John was better. The Americas series.
Sunday no mention of Ascension at Methodists. I played Andrew Moore pieces. We sang Brian Hoare's Born in song which is a great tune. Met Rita. Lunch at SJ. Had a sleep and evensong. Sumsion in A. Royal Tournament 1994 and Peter Grimes from ENO 1974.
Monday Liz to art course. Swim and aerobics. Lady apologised for Thursday. Said she had eaten 2 eggs! Chat to Ann on cruise. Excellent series on Jane Austen's life.
Tuesday Liz went to Guys and had a frustrating day. I was quite tired and had a rest on the bed. To quiet time. Francesca an Italian Catholic harangued me about Fatima and the secrets of Medjugorije! To Organists dinner at the Chancery excellent food, service a bit slow, Anne Marsden Thomas spoke really well and Brian Solomons very chatty. Bruce came.
Wed to Addiscombe for Catenian Mass Fr Keith did it very well and read all the names in the prayers. Declan and Mike were there plus 3 from Croydon circle!. To coffee and several people spoke to me including Bridie. To Methodists for short practice. To cinema to see Barber of Seville from the Met. Hilarious and great singing. Liz had hair cut and did some shopping.
Thursday art and aerobics. To Wallington to collect the hanging baskets - one has grown taller the other wider but they look great. Deleted lots of emails.
Friday Unacc and lunch. To Croydon Unitarians and the caretaker let me in and was very helpful. It's a 2 manual Wyvern. Church has very little decoration. Liz to Riley's party at SJ. Alice Roberts in Turkey.
Sat Henry's first communion at St Bartholomew's. Hour and 20 minutes - why incense? Choir and organ but the only parts sung were the hymns. The sheet was useless for a visitor. To Eden Park Toby for carvery and cake. Mass at Anerley Pentecost Vigil. Reader did 2 readings then Alleluia followed by the sequence!
Sunday played at Croydon Unitarians. Reading about starfish and sermon about salt. Jesus was mentioned once! Very feeble singing but friendly people. Played Moore. Picked up Liz at SJ. Had a rest and read the Tablet. Alison Steadman interviewed. Vienna Phil in Paris with Bryn and Florez. Put the old Shark cordless on freecycle and it was gone very quickly!
Monday swim and aerobics. Liz did not go to art course. She went to Post Office. Jon Newman spoke at Phoemix centre on Lambeth and Shakespeare. Richard SM meditation. Chat to Ann in the far North. Jamie Oliver on dyslexia and end of the Jane Austen genius series.
Tuesday up early for blood test at Mayday. Saw Andy the chaplain in the street. Swim. Put up baskets in garden but one bracket fell down! Very good video call with researcher about dementia at Hammersmith hospital. Quiet time - suggested we sat in a circle. 2 Gresham lectures quite depressing about the climate and oil companies.
Wed swim and Beck Methodist practice. Very good Sion zoom about democracy. Picked up Henry and he was chatty. CCA zoom. Took Dennis and Henry home. Race round the world won by mum and son. Mansfield Park beautifully done 1983.
Thursday art and aerobics. Liz needed frame number for car - eventually found it at home. Cleared lounge and bedroom ready for carpet clean tomorrow.
