Cambridge

Wed. Up early and parked at station. To Farringdon and Elizabeth line to Liverpool street. I had to wait for the train I had booked which was the cheapest option. Reading Austen Ivereigh. Arrived on time and got U2 bus. Walk to Woolf institute. Some people got lost and were late. Beth gave an excellent talk. 24 signed up and 22 came! Tour of the institute and good discussions. Photos outside. Then 2 buses to the mosque and no 2 bus was late and then sat for 5 minutes Our guide was very nice and laid back so time for a hot drink first. What a stunning building! Really beautiful. Ate my sandwiches and charged up my phone. Then bus to King's and queue for evensong. Men sang well but the sound is poor for speech. Byrd anthem. Readers are lay. It seems some evensongs the second reading is replaced by poetry! We did not hear the full organ at all. The hymn was to plainchant so nobody joined in. ThenFirmly I eblieve. got bus back to the station and wait for train to Liverpool St and home by 9.45. An excellent day which was much enjoyed.

Thursday Liz to St Thomas but it was the wrong day! Dennis went up and helped set up appointments for next week. Superloop bus to Waterloo. Arrived at St Georg'e cathedral early. 5 bishops for Fr David Standley's funeral. Eamon Duffy spoke so well. Anthony Charlton did the homily. Faure requiem. Did not know tune for Firmly I believe. L'Arche participation. Lovely flute playing. Abp John asked after Liz. Gerard, Fr Peter (looking very old), chat to Anglican woman minister from Bradford, Martin, Abp Kevin. Nice eats. Home on bus. LSiUK zoom and CAFOD training for elections.

Friday to lunch at Unacc remembering John which is brother Graham paid for. It was delicious!

Sat Hurtado on Ascension. SM Trent park. To Bromley college 90 years of the Compton organ. The pipes are in the crypt. MIchael Keen said it would be his last recital. I think he found playing in front of organists daunting. He was taught by Osborne Peasgood and Ralph Downes. Christopher spoke about Jack Coxswell. To Mass Fr Andrew - missalettes and mass book could not be found. Liz did not make it as Henry was at a party and we were supposed to be minding him.

Sunday played Ridout on This joyful Eastertide and Mascagni Easter hymn. Sermon started with adults looking for a bunch of grapes which turned out to be balloons one of which was burst. Rain. Sleep after lunch and we had chicken. The piano series with Lang Lang. Antiques roadshow and Mammals.

Monday to Barclays bank Bromley. Chat to Ann. Seems we did not need an appointment! Had to sort out 5ps. Farthings and old 50ps rejected. Of course my calculated total was too low but it's been paid in. Took an hour. Spidir committee. Liz to Guys for iron. Did washing and changed bed. Martin Clunes in Palau. Pompeii. Lovely online service for SM admitting 10 new companions.

Tuesday Liz to St Thomas and saw nice consultant who went through everything. To dentist and a new dentist who was very good. Root canal and 3 Xrays to check it. Essex interfaith and last day of Interfaith network for the UK. Now what? To quiet time and Fr Tom took it - just 3 of us. Liz to hairdresser but she wasn't ready so I came home and she came back on the 75. Civilisation. Interesting section on Francis of Assisi. Next big thing for Aldi.

Wed chores done. Swim. Zoom about contacting dioceses. Sisters of Sion on Paul and women. Watched first talk in Life in the Spirit series. To Beckenham Fr Stephen said Mass. To the hall - warmup act 4 songs one of which we did not know. Watched talk by Fr Gerard from the cathedral. Excellent. Into the kitchen group 1 too many questions. Left at 9.50 and still going strong. Too many time wasted on admin stuff. Agnes Ammo was there from South Norwood! Watched race across the world.

Thursday swim and it was quiet despite it being election day. Cheltenham prayer for Gaza. Webinar on migration very interesting.

Friday Liz went early to St Thomas for endoscopy. I did not go swimming which was good as the phone call came at 10.10. I got two buses and we came home in an ambulance. Home at 3.45. Both tired. I read Leave the world behind. Brian kindly gave me a copy. My letter about Easter joy published by The Tablet. Letter from the King unable to help.
