Hymns

Tuesday hot in the night so got up and did music planners. Interesting that Jaimee reverts to the same hymns as she chose them last year. Imogen was in touch.Swim and quiet time Gail, Nick and Paul came so had a good chat.  Stunning Prom BBCSO Martyn Brabbins Cockaigne, Holst Hammersmith, Christopher Maltman 4 Stanford songs (diction disappointing) The RVW London symphony - wonderful ppp. Lovely to meet David Bryant chorus memories!

Wednesday Louise brought Sean so had a good chat and berought her up to speed. Gave in on LO he comes at All Saints and now no Gloria. All 3 of us went for a swim. To Sainsbury's. Sean "Grandad would you liek a Lego bonsai tree for your birthday?" AT £36 I'd rather have a real tree bought him a Lego set. He spent the afternoon chatting to friends. Watched rest of John Wilson prom Adagio for strings a beautiful ending. To Mass Eve of Assumption. Could not hear a word - speakers are set for singing and the loop is 30 years old. Fr Andrew said new speakers have been ordered. Sean came and Liz served. Celebrity race across Brazil.

Thursday. Sean sleepy. I was up in the night myself. Swam 12 and to art. They liked the cupcakes. To Dulwich gallery and enjoyed the Japanese prints again and the small exhibtion about the lost Leonardo. Alas no tigers in shop. Tea then back in time to talk to Clare which was very helpful. Rang Henry but he did not speak. Dennis helping Grainne. Liz went to sing at SJ. Enjoyed the Kannah-Mason prom and Who do you think you are. Stephen Power suggestions for recitals. More animators signing letter and taking out para about PM's legacy. It was aimed at Sunak and he never replied!

Friday Sean still asleep.Took card for Claire and handed it to Sophia as Dennis and Grainne were moving bed in a wheelbarrow! To swim and retrieved my stick and saw Sam. Change room spotless and complimented staff member. 16 lengths then to Unacc but left early as Liz rang. Saw Grainne briefly - she was going to bank and was there all afternoon with Dennis. Now flying home at weekend. Picked up Henry from camp at nice school Holmewood Road. He said nothing and fell asleep in the car. He perked up with ice cream! Put the table made by Uncle Dennis on top landing with my music on it and it fits well. It is not that big. Watched some of NYO Prom but spent quite a while in the garden clearing up. Had a shower and change. Very hot. Sean announced that we were slaves of the National Trust and he did not want to see the paintings done by dead people so we stayed home instead of going to Nymans or Chislehurst Caves. Dennis came to pick up Henry and there was a scene because Henry would not say goodbye to me which upsets me a lot. Rang Louise and Ann.

Saturday SM from Salisbury close. Fixed car seat. Replaced downstairs toilet seat but upstairs one is too hard to remove - rusted I think. Season of creation resources. Watched Prom of film soundtracks. To Mass. Fr Steve asked Liz not to serve as DBS is out of date. Unfortunately he did at the front of the nave. SOund system was so bad could not hear Deacon Ray at all or Fr John much. Ray all set for the Letter showing. Nice chats to David and Merrell about the party.

Sunday honouring Mary. We were blessed for the third time this time by Jaimee. She really is most inefficient. Our gift of painted gnomes from the choir was not in the church but in the vestry. Liz sang the Gounod Ave Maria beautifully and I played the Schubert and Dandrieu. Watching the livestream later I was shocked by the choir members faffing around while Liz was singing but she had not noticed. Lindley Ave Maria. To coffee and then BBQ at the vicarage which was very nice - a lot of food. Quite warm again. Watched War requiem from the Prom Pappano was superb - treated it like an opera. Allan Clayton was so clear. Very moving. Prgramme about the staging at Colisseum which we saw and Britten and the camera. Bernie brought photos and dropbox - they are superb. 2 short videos of us singing.

Monday Liz went to Guys for physio. Ann not available. Took retrurns to post office, swim and aerobics. To Crystal Palace for coffee and cake at Black bird. Crows Nest bookshop and bought a McEwan and had a chat to the bookseller. Liz got plants. Letter to PM more or less ready. Call my bluff a delight. Mastermind, Only connect, University challenge. Wrote to Lord Khan new minister for faith and sent prayers for season of creation.

Tuesday both went for a swim. Liz took DBS form to Beckenham. I did washing. Chat to Essex folk - I will not accept that miracles in John's gospel are myths! The last week sounds like a useful book. Quiet time took some party photos and discussed hunger. Also took toys. Letter to PM more signatures. All Mozart Prom.

Wednesday swim and Liz to gym. Met Diane and had a good chat. Orwell vs Kafka on BBC Sounds. Ideas for recital. Excellent dinner at Catenians and Liz came. 2 other ladies there. Had a good chat.

Thursday swim and to art. Nice chat to Aileen. Mark Elder conducting Macmillan at Halle Prom. Great piece for choirs. Recycling furniture programme on TV. Weather turned dull. Grace Williams overture and Sorcerer's apprentice. Started watching Perfect Days. SJ Florence Rousseau from Burgundy played JSB (it sounded French!) Bohm, Howells, Nicholas and she met him for the first time, Langais, Tournemire and Franck. Most enjoyable and she is charming. The organ is being cleaned so it will be piano and chamber organ.

Friday to St John Gravesend for funeral of Ubbo Bakker. We both served. Funny old server did everything. 3 priests and Duncan. 3 hymns. Lovely church originally Anglican. Interesting altar from Irish bog woods 4000 years old. Great to see Catenians. We went to the reception at Knowle wedding centre - lovely place and delicious food. Home by 5.30. Prom on TV MND, Mozart clarinet concerto. From Prom Coll cello concerto.

Saturday Liz went to see the WM riders off to Paris from Croydon Leonardo hotel. Hurtado session on storm on Sea of Galilee. Catching up on Proms. To sing at Jacqui and Afonso's wedding at SJ. 4 hymns. Nice to hear Lionel playing. Mass and sound system fixed. Bucketed with rain. Prom Jamie Barton Mahler and Sib 5. Rest of modern film soundtracks.
