Westminster Faith exchange
Tuesday went for swim. To quiet time and rescued 2 bottles from fridge and found my music scores in the vestry plus one box of chocs from the boys. What happened to the other two? I read part of a letter from Nazareth about Taize and silence. Michelle wanted to look at our Jazz . This meant I was delayed and there were roadworks so missed train. Did not matter as when I got to 64 Victoria St which used to be Westminster City Hall it's all very swish and unlabelled! Cllr Bush chaired the meeting Rabbi Helen, Methodist Paul and Graham from Rochester Row. Decided to have candle lighting vigil in September which seems a bit late but the Leader is away! Graham recognised Nazareth cross and Cath was his curate. Home quite quickly. Clearing up in progress. Olympics.
Wednesday Timothy preached about the silence of Jesus at Blackfriars. Turns out Graham is wellknown to AnneMarie and Cath. Swim and nice chat to Roger the blind man and Sam who is getting married next year. Cleared up back room and put photos away. We have so many! Pax Christi online prayers for peace.Olympics.
Thursday woke early. Fr Timothy preached at Blackfriars for St Dominic's day. Swim and to art. Pauline raving about the party and several said they wished they had come! Lsi encounter worldwide. Grainne and co arrived with Dennis. Athena made a beeline for the bears! Lsi community meeting - it's all rather one way and top down. LSiUK animators was excellent.
Friday swim and UNACC Triniti and husband did come late to the party while we were rehearsing for evensong! T shirt much admired! Decided not to go to Garden museum as it was warm. Had a rest and took Liz to Lidl. To Holy Apostles Pimlico for Pax Christi service remembering Franz Jagerstatter. Simple and moving. Remembered conscientious objectors. Ellen and Gerry played guitars. Kate, Elizabeth, Nagase, Jon, Judy Ann, Colette, Dominic - he looked like a Benedictine but it was Jesuit dress. I said when do you wear it? Reply interfaith walks! I skipped the walk to the Peace pagoda and came home only to learn Grainne and Co had gone back to 52. Sophia did not like all the moving about. Bruce came as on a course. Great to see him and now have Emma as a contact.
Saturday SM from Victoria Park with Jolley. To RAH for organ prom Jonathan Scott on great form Wagner quite slow, Chaminade, Jopson, Ives (cannot take this seriously) and 1812. Super organ prom by Jonathan Scott and I shook the great man’s hand. The intro was just what people like explaining the different stops and even a drum and bells! Saw Adrian, Terence, Steven Disley and Shephards. On the way home from the organ prom we stopped in Battersea park for tea and ice cream. Read at Mass this evening which I have done several times. Just before the creed another reader came and told me I was too soft so I moved the mic down for the prayers and spoke directly into it. Turns out that it is the speakers in the church and not the mic and a couple of people told me that they could hear me very well. As I am on the loop everything sounds loud! I found it hard to follow the homily. Fr John reads it and it so boring! Let’s hope they get it sorted as I was very clear that I am not going to shout the prayers! Soul of my savious sung so slowly and hopelessly out of tune. I gave up! Nicely settled in the garden with g and t and the Prom on my phone on BBC sounds. It kept cutting out so had to come indoors. The brass in the Wagner NYO were stunning! And Mahler 1 and Bizet encore sung! Artistic swimming from Olympics. Bruce had a dreadful train journey today.
Woke early - Liz was upset about Grainne. Prom Jonathan Harvey, Elgar cello concerto and Holst Cloud messenger. Morning service about Eric Liddle. Sunday played Karg-Elert well although reeds out of tune, Dad and Willan on Bishopthorpe, Mendelssohn It is enough although this reading was omitted. It was Mary Sumner and a letter from Bishops at the end. i hour and 25 minutes and it started late (as usual). People clearly loved our party - best ever says Margaret! Nibbles and drinks in church. Chatted up Andrew about joining choi he is keen to play jazz piano. Jaimee and I chose hymns up to end of Nov. Cordial sometimes hard to hear what she is saying! Her failsafe method seems to be to go for Kendrick but she did suggest Soul of my saviour! Very hot. Match but got parked OK. Letter to PM and Steve Reed drafted at last thanks to Virginia. Orders for Lsi badges coming in. Music list for Sept done. Bruce came and he had been talking to Dennis as had Emma. Closing of Olympics - I slept through a lot of it!
Monday. Bruce left early but only got home at 3. Dennis came and moved lawnmower box to shed. He brought stuff back and chatted so that was good. Had a good chat to Ann. Liz to gym and I swam 14 and we both went to chair aerobics. It was very hot. The Phoenix centre talk by Peter was very good and he showed a film Heaven or hell which was funny. He talked about HMV and other record companies and their logo. Had some nice chats. SM Timothy Radcliffe excellent and a nice chat.
