Friday Liz's temp up to 39 so rang oncology. Changed out of funeral suit and Uber. 2 hours she was in Majors. Pneumonia and later found out it was sepsis. No wonder she had such difficulty moving. Sat I cried off the Caterham Christmas fair in the church (I was to play carols on the piano and organ). To hospital and acite admissions ward. One woman determined to go home! Stayed 3 hours tired. Mass at St George's cathedral old priest who sits down. Sound system echoes. Sunday played Elgar Adagio and For the fallen also Thalben-Ball Elegy. We sang Christ has no body. Welcare talk very long. Service finished 11.40! Practised 2 carols and |Walton with trumpet. Lunch of ravioli and then to hospital. Wolf Hall was great. Fell asleep before it!
Monday Ann rang. Swk and Blackfriars and the end of SM. Swim and aerobics. To hospital and Louise was there which was lovely. Home on C10 and SL6. Cooked pie - have the rest tomorrow. Ageing clergy and dangerous sanctuaries. Bake off. On train listened to St Paul's lecure on sex by Diarmiud Macculloch.
Wed a full day. To Trinity house for RSCM Hymnpact day which was very well organised. Liked the Swazi song. There are only 35 items so far and it does a bit odd to choose another tune for some texts but I think it will work. Jaimee came with me to the hospital which was nice. Liz likely to come out Friday. She was shopping in M and S. 381 bus late so missed train and had to clean sleet off windscreen so abandoned the idea of going to Catenians. Cooked teriyaki beef. Digging for Britain was good.

Friday St Cecilia Liz came home eventually! Chris Patten interviewed by the Lord Speaker. Ironing and hoovering done. Took washed plates back to SJ and 2 lots of milk so we could get food into the freezer. David Riches's funeral was very special - Croft, Bruckner and Rutter and 4 good hymns. Tim Posner played Elgar Salut d'amour beautifully on the cello. Everybody asked after Liz. David Hyman was there - I played carols at the golf club for him 24 years ago! Nice chat to Olivia, Suanna. Splendid evensong memorial to Ian Keatley from Southwark cathedral with brass and timps Stanford, Harris, Strauss. Settled Nine lessons programme 7 congregational 4 choir carols. Applied for refund for Bluebell railway.
