Tuesday Aug 5 took Sean to Lego course at Dunraven primary. We both went swimming. Liz had not been for 2 years! Still no call from Imran at Honda. To quiet time and interesting discussion about peace and Jan on Meryl. Liz went to get clothes changed. I picked up Sean and we had fishcakes for dinner and white fizzy wine followed by peaches. Part of Prom English music. Sewing bee Korean week. Sean chatting about school.
Wed Sean to course. We both went swimming. To Croydon carers centre to see Laura Jones who is going back to teaching. It was very helpful (2 hours) especially on my emotional state and the impact on both of us. To St Luke Woodside and met Fr Sam. Practice on the Allen which is OK. Picked up Sean. Prom Be 5 and SaintSaens on TV. Shocked to see Masterchef aired with disgraced hosts. Interesting programme on restoring Japanese ceramics.
Thursday took Sean - he was sleepy! He spoke to Louise from NY last night and wanted both Star wars laser beams - I don't see the point! He said they are cool. To art and the Tudor house is finished and Ann would like it. A mysterious phone cover came from EE so phoned nice man in Wales and account details updated. Cleaner came and did bathroom. Lead prayers for Cheltenham based on Season of creation materials and it went very well. Podcast interview was great and it goes out Sept 10. Started new jigsaw. Prom featuring trumpeter and the New World symphony.
Friday 8th St Dominic. Played West side story and Bach goes to town on piano. Sean's last day and we were invited to see the Lego exhibition of a fairground and we met Louise there fresh from New York. Took them to Crystal palace station to find the cafe shut because of a music festival in the park. We both went to UNACC and had a good lunch. Took Liz to opticians to get glasses adjusted. Still nothing from Churchill insurance. Bromley parking ticket will investigate. Proms Shipping forecast well done, Bartok and Rach. Gigout at the start of Anna Lapwood marathon through the night.
Sat 9th SM on Wimbledon common with Maddie was lovely. Insurance sorted at last but because I used First Call chat line they want to charge me! Season of creation events article sent off. Sunday played at St Luke Woodside. Angela from Norbury presided. I could not hear the sermon at all. I was playing Moore on Westminster Abbey when 3 choristers were trying to sing the hymn. I checked they knew the tunes - no warning of this practice from Christopher. Stopford setting and Alleluia attractive. Appleford Gloria is trite. At communion 3 hymns and i stopped after 3 verses of The Lord;s my shepherd but chori carried on a cappella very nicely. Walton Elegy, RVW New commonwealth and Dad's Entry of the bride and March. Liz joined me from Anerley 9,30 Mass which has a small choir! Jean Yearwood, David and Jem were there. Jean church warden will post cheque as it has to be signed by two. All clothes on new velvet hangers. Put up bird decoration in garden and cut back Darren's roses. Very hot. Prom Gardner Sibelius, Tippett, Ravel and Debussy. Jigsaw.
Monday 11th. Chat to Ann. Liz to Dementia Arts crafts. Swim and aerobics - it was hot! To Phoenix centre excellent talk by Sue Henning about a cruise to the North Pole. But what was the point of going? Polar bears and walruses and a swim in freezing sea. Russian nuclear powered ship - sounds scary. Liz met me there and I took china for raffle. To Post Office to post painting to Ann £15 not tracked. Daylight robbery. It's also absolute nonsense that you have to scan a code on your phone for customs form. How would an elderly person manage that?? Took all children's books to Westow Hill. Eventually found that the box is in Wentworths estate agents! Picked up Henry from camp. I want to paint then No I don't want to paint! Wants to paint a red-eyed deer from 99 deer which is for 18+. Took him home. University challenge. Angelica Kauffman Fake or fortune. Dropped off. Heatwave for a week! Finished jigsaw which has given me a lot of pleasure. 500 village church bootsale.
Tuesday 12th Swim and played piano. Cleared out under stairs. Very hot again. To quiet time and the chatter at tea time was too loud. Zoom preparing for ecumenical service in Kensington Sept 10. Mozart Prom 1984 and tribute to Brendel, Viennese waltzes Prom, spotted Robin looking very distinguished. Rev as funny as ever. 2010.
