Canadian wild life, Jasper

The advantage of the coach over the train is we can stop to look at wild animals and great excitement over 2 wolves, 2 bears, elk and bighorn sheep. This enthusiasm wore off after a bit as a really good camera was often needed. However the scenery is fantastic. Breakfast at The Keg - smashing buffet. Lake Louise beautiful. Lake Peyto also very blue and some snow at the view site. Lunch at Saskatchewan crossing. Atahabasca glacier on the snow - I felt this was being exploited for tourism. These glaciers are all receding and our ecology depends on them. To Jasper and slept a lot. Internet in hotel foyer so sent emails. Dinner at The Inn. Liz had red snapper and mango teardrop. We found it cheaper to eat out form the posh hotels we were staying in.Breakfast at The Inn.
To Lake Maligne - saw coyote and bighorn sheep. Wonderful view from Spirit Island so the cruise was well worth it. To Medicine Lake and Maligns canyon - wonderful weather again. To white water rafting on Athabasca river.90 minutes of hanging n and getting wet. The doctor in the group of 8 Patels was a real daredevil. Would never have done this a few years back! Dinner at the Palisades - super steak and pecan pie. Liz had spinach filo pastry Greek style. Everyone is so friendly! Did not manage to get to Mass but keeping up reading and some prayers. The whole place is inspiring - how great Thou art!
Monday June 16 Breakfast at Jasper Inn. Coffee stop at Mount Robson. We got one of the 6 days a year when the mountain is clear of cloud! Amused at people trying to film humming birds which fly from Chile! How astonishing is creation! Lovely reflections in Moose Lake and waterfalls. Brown bears in wells Gray park. Spahats fall very dramatic. Lunch at Painted Turtle at Duck lake. Here there was a piano with old time music hall song book so I played and it was much enjoyed with one Ozzie trying to get tips in my hat! To Sun Peaks resort and swam in outdoor pool with steam room, A lovely room at Sun Peaks hotel but a sort of non-place. Purpose built ski resort not fully open for the season. Found a nice cafe and had dinner there and breakfast - strawberry pancakes! Watched bears on the ski run - mother with 2 cubs.
