PART 2. In Alesund visited the old pharmacy which is an Art Nouveau museum and Kube modern art gallery. Supper for congregation in dining room every pleasant..After a day off the quintet returned with ballet and Russian music. Lovely cello solos.

Saturday in Longyearbyen . Airport bus to husky farm presentation and slides about polar bears. Waffles and syrup drink. Wood fires. Austrian guide. Svalbard museum very good and stopped to see polar bear sign and geese but we missed the most northerly church in the world which did not please. Mass and we both read. Quintet played Shostakovich and Sibelius and Rebecca Clarke. Stayed up for Philipino show. Woke early and read at mass. Fantastic Liefdeldjord with 3 glaciers. Haydn, Bach and Martinu. Excellent dancers Stages. American programme including Amy Beech. Finished Sleeping with Schubert by Bonnie Marson.
Monday woke at 4 and the ship was really rocking! Tender to Ny Alesund most northerly town and research station from all over the world. Walked round museum very good and polar expeditions well explained. Small plane landed. Second massage was with assessments first it was great and I slept really well. Dinner at Canaletto. Finished Lisa Scottoline Look again. Excellent.
Tuesday stretch session spa, sauna, swim. Salad for lunch.

The ship's library has a lot of American stuff and a strange collection of classics! The Brahms piano quintet was a delight. Movie classics included John Williams and Schindler's list. Dressed up and are in dining room with a couple from Aachen and their son. The Indonesian show was very good and a packed house.
Up early and got a glimpse of volcano on Jan Mayen despite mist..spent the morning after stretch and release where I am able to do much more than before even bending right knee spa,sauna, swim. Demo of life saving in pool with dinghy. At lunch met a man very interested in history reading book on drinks in history. Beethoven string quartet and Pathetique first movement. . Spa and sauna. Mass and New York composers incl Glass Monica and Barber adagio.somebody applauded in the rest.nice couple from NSW. Dinner in our room.
