Friday rained solidly in Akureyri.Coach trip botanical gardens started by housewives in 1952. Laufas parsonage and church fascinating. Godafoss waterfalls worth the trip. Abandoned wet walk to church and museums. Spa and sauna. Deacon Gerry preached well at Mass. Planet earth 2 with I've music excellent. Great to read Tablet on kindle.
Saturday walked round Isafjordur after visiting Westfjord museum. Old town and garden.swam and short sauna. After lunch excellent tour to Sudavik coffee and marriage cake and film about the 1995 avalanche. Arctic fox centre interesting. In the Church a 17 year old sang 3 haunting Icelandic songs quite beautifully. Drive to the end of the Swan fjord wonderful views and some sunshine!Alan the guide is British. Too late for mass. Spa and sauna fantastic views of fjords. Dinner with Father Al. William the comedian was good. Schumann. Reading Tablet.
Sunday stretch and release, spa, sauna. Mariners lunch and met people from Los Angeles and Vancouver. Guy from Palm Springs. The homily at Mass was awful sideswipes at gays, divorced and Protestants. Maybe 85 year old priests obsessed about Medjugorye should retire! The first reading was Abraham bargaining with God.the fact that it mentioned Sodom was surely not an excuse to attack gays!
