Holy Week

 Palm Sunday went well with procession round the outside of the church and a dramatised Passion. I played Bach Prelude on Passion chorale and Tears of grief from St Matthew Passion. We sang My song is love unknown, There is a green hill, To mock your reign, Sing my tongue and When I survey. At St John Upper Norwood beautiful St John Passion by Bob Chilcott. Very moving. Julia playing the cello. Excellent soloists.

Guys Hearing test. I have lost upper frequencies. Immediate improvement and new aids in May. Tate modern exhibitions by 3 women unimpressed. Southwark cathedral Eucharist and meditation with poems beautifully read by the Dean. James Gough played Bach, Messiaen, Dupre, Sowerby and ended with Widor version of Tears of grief which I found too loud! Nice chat to Martin. Home and put carpet washer in the shed. Beautiful Mass of healing and anointing in the Lady chapel and Bishop Peter Selby preached. Jigsaw. Fell asleep during University challenge. Woke up during compline on radio 3! Slept right through.

Tuesday swim. To UNACC for Easter lunch delicious lamb and chocolates. Guitar and singer. To quiet time and had a good chat to Brian and Danny. Took Liz to Secret Garden but she did not find what she wanted. Zoom about April 21 which will be a great gathering of activists! Next door and Facebook for Holy Week events. Gresham lecture not connecting. 7.30 Mass of repentance at SJ Bishop Peter Selby preached really well. My new phone came and started to charge it up.

Wed swim and got new light bulbs. The switch in our bedroom has gone. Sent publicity for April 21 but some parish offices already closed for Easter. Liz sang at Tenebrae. I watched the Holy Land and us part 2.

Maundy Thursday swim. To art and started Crucifixion and violinist paintings. Liz to gym.Churches Trust. BBC Singers on radio 3. Gresham lecture endings of novels. St John's beautiful liturgy Darke in A minor, Barnard's arrangement of Ubi caritas, Pange lingua, Psalm 88. Come Christ's beloved by James Walsh new to me. Excellent video homily by Sr Gemma. Recorded Murray Ubi caritas on return home. A quiet evening of contemplation and jigsaw.

Good Friday Tenebrae from Blackfriars SM and S. St John's excellent homily by Sr Gemma and saw her afterwards also Nicholas Ansell-Evans about Dead City. Lotti Crucifixus and Sanders Reproaches. O come and stand beneath the cross by Dykes unimpressed. Played Passion chorale on piano after Bruce had spent hours setting up my new phone and watch . Very pleased with both. Dvorak Stabat mater with the Chorus from King's. Pilgrimage in Portugal. We had delicious hot cross buns and salmon. Would I lie to you?
