Just missed bus so only 34 lengths. I saw 3 staff for a get to know you chat in the office. Have still to actually do a parking permit! Did some more clearing up. Chat on Skype to Shirley and Micky. Grandma had a fall so Liz and Dennis went to see her.

Swim and 140 emails to wade through! To Chorus Thursday June 25th. Friday 26th dentist put in temporary front tooth - back molar will have to come out. I can smile again - alas I now I have a gap between the two top front teeth but I can live with that! Saturday June 27th Jennifer Uhlmann who was formerly director of Battersea Park arrived early but it soon became clear the PowerPoint connection was not going to work and she called Parks Police who brought the vital missing lead and Micky Gwilliam got it going. The audience of 30 really enjoyed it not least the air conditioning on a hot day. The talk was excellent and my gift of flowers and chocs appreciated. Best turn out we have ever had for a library talk and lots more wanted to come.

I have been reading Desmond Morris's "The naked man; a study of the human body" and now I know why torch bearers are asked to stand with one hand on their chest with the torch in the other hand. It is an ancient Greek posture assumed by slaves awaiting their master's bidding. He says a lot about bowing and hand gestures too and even includes a photo of the Pope washing feet. Apparently our feet betray the most about our mood so keep an eye on the celebrant's feet! If he is tapping his foot or waving a foot he is wanting to leave or at least get on with things! I have even seen a celebrant tapping the altar with his fingers during the Sanctus waiting for the music to end! This is a really useful study if you are in a multinational congregation because the same gesture can mean opposite things to different nationalities! Had a quiet day - the weather was awful! I was delighted to see Erik in Battersea Park today. He had triple bypass surgery last year and a hip replacement in November. He is walking with a crutch and making slow progress so eventually we will see him back in the library. I was able to tell him all about the concert on Wednesday. The park is looking lovely at the moment. I swam 34 lengths this morning and at choir practice we discussed the Passion as the church cannot afford to pay a professional organist. Micky was again with us so I gave him a lift to East Croydon and we bought blank tape cassettes at Tesco Purley. Bruce made an excellent job of laying laminate in our hall last week and the edges still need to be done.
