Lindy Wilson

Image
Swam 20. To M and S Croydon to meet Lindy Wilson who was a Buddhist and us now becoming an Anglican. 2 hours over tea and most of it was about being a Christian - she as brought up Catholic and is going to meet Rowan Williams. Also at meditatio events! She is worried by "renounce the Devil and all his works". Had a revelation in a cafe that God is in all things! Very nice. Bought flowers and biscuits and got shaver refills in Boots. No sing of Uhu glue for mosaic! By the time I came home it was raining. Big article By Archbishop Kevin about Cardinal Tauran's visit in Tablet. Sent off 2 essays with no changes. Only the dissertation by Sept 2 left to do and well on with it. Cooked beetroot  risotto with sea bass. Watched The Apprentice, also Mozart piano concerto 28 from the proms and repeat of Symphony on BBC4.

Toulouse-Lautrec

Swam 27 - odd number because of slow swimmer in slow lane and fast swimmers as well leading to overcrowding. Melissa is leaving this week - will miss her sunny smile on reception! To Courtauld Institute to see the Toulouse-Lautrec and Jane Avril exhibition. It is free on Mondays before 2 p.m. so crowded but lovely pictures and enjoyed the Impressionists and Botticelli. Also a fine small exhibition about gravity based around a Rubens. To South Bank centre to find it much transformed with a lovely roof garden on the Queen Elizabeth Hall and water feature, beach and funfair! To tai chi. As usual my route to OSmerest House was much better than tfl! Another lovely day. Clearing up garden and some pots already collected through freeCroydon emails. Coooked courgette souffle for the first time - very nice. Watched Antique master and Lif of Muhammad part 1. Liz picked up part of the house for the garden for Ciarán bought on ebay.

Interfaith lunch

I swam yesterday 30 and saw John. He works with figures about the Big Society and has much to say on the subject and the Government's plans! Had a lie-in and finished The Tablet. To Brixton Hill for interfaith lunch and meeting and a review of the last 2 years. Good to see Phillipe and Hassan again and Fr David had an interesting chat. I told him how I came to be at the cathedral. Ivor and Sally wanted to know about our trip and Jo gave me a ticket for the Cardinal Bea lecture. Baked chocolate brownies ready for tomorrow.

MacMillan

Dennis came last night and visited Grandma who moved wards. To St Cyprian's for 2 rehearsals with Nick - it is starting to go in. At lunch time I went for a walk in Regent's Park and found a lovely garden with a stature, crocuses, snowdrops and pansies. Cappuccino at Pavilion cafe next to tennis courts. On bus with Andrew and bought meal for 2 in M and S. Canon Christopher at vespers and Mass. The Byron choir from Harrow school was excellent - Byrd, Shephard. Newsletter does give Lent group on Wednesday but nothing about quiet day! Picked up Dennis at King's and I prepared dinner - trout, Mediterranean vegetables and profiteroles with Ke wine from Chile. After dinner played the piano for once - Clair de lune, Faure, Nimrod, Dichterliebe.
