Charles 1

To Gaynor Mullane's funeral a sad but uplifting occasion. Don and the children all spoke so movingly. 42 came to the dementia awareness talk! It was excellent and Aoife urged us to support Dementia friends and raise awareness. A major part of the problem is reluctance to tell the GP about short term memory loss. Henry came and saw Anne Marie about children's guides.  To Royal Academy to see magnificent Charles I collection. Stayed overnight in Acton and spent the day cataloguing non-fiction in the library (which is in a mess again). I got my young helpers to tidy up. Great to see the boys again and they loved their new dressing gowns and the San Diego zoo map. An inspector came to see the library and said immediately a full time librarian was needed. Louise says no money for that!  To Anerley to see a  film about St Catherine of Siena. Back to swimming and did 20 lengths. Better have taken over Croydon leisure centres from Fusion - I wonder if they really will be better?...

RSCM, Nigel Groome and Bishop Nick

Saturday Feb 28th to Royal School of Church Music sessions at Gary Weston library, Southwark cathedral. Met the new director Lyndsey Gray who is impressive and I gave him some RC contacts. The presentations and discussions were helpful and there was opportunity to flag up concerns. In particular we have lost the "Martin Hows" available to come and advise at practices. To Vespers and mass - I was thurifer as Liz was due to go to Milton Keynes to meet Shirley and Flo but Grandma wasn't up to it. Sunday March 1 First of Lent. Nigel Groome RSCM rep came to practice and service. He said "Well done". Bishop Nick of Croydon presided and preached - he told Vickie the choir sounded good and they did well. To Sandra and Dave's in Chislehurst with Bruce for Gill's 60th birthday - surprise party which was great. Lots to eat! Monday March 2 Catenian meeting. Everyone enjoyed the 1000th - it was good to see Richard Nash there. Eric Tope is to be V.P. and he gave me a ...

Van Dycks

Woke late so no swim today. I was tired after yesterday's exertions. Started emailing people who have not used the library in the last 6 months. To the lovely Van Dyck exhibition at Tate Britain. Wonderful clothes and horses and dogs to match aristocratic profiles. I must go again and get the audio guide. The booklet costs £2! To chorus and Edward was gatting rather tetchy. He seems to think we have time to learn by heart Bruckner motets - fat chance with my lifestyle! We worked on one of the Part pieces. It's sad that the concert had to be moved to Islington Union chapel and there will be no organ. Peter Wright is disappointed.
