Elijah

To match first reading played Mendelssohn Elijah "It is enough" and "Lift thine eyes". Quite tricky as solo voice on choir clarinet and cello solo on Great. Stanford on St Columba and Finale from Saint-Saens No. 3. I thought I played it rather well but John remarked it needed more practice and a rallentando and drums! Cheek! Rehearsing Mahler Adagietto, Pachelbel Canon for the wedding and Dad's suite also Brewer Marche heroique. Anne-Marie Garton sang well and a good sermon. What a frightening experience! Mass at St Mary's 25 minute sermon on Elijah. Fr Celestine again! Tony Moynihan has died aged 93. Lunch then to two great Proms with a fine discussion on Dona nobis pacem with A. C. Grayling. Joshua Bell Mendelssohn, Saint-Saens, Bridge and Beethoven. Boulanger, Elgar, RVW. Beautiful singing from Sophie Bevan and Edward Gardner conducted BBC. Saw Chris Tew.

Serpentine gallery and IWM

Swam 20. Liz dropped me at Kent House as she went to Mass for the Assumption at Anerley. Early at CML only to find it does not open until 11 a.m. Returned 4 scores. To the hall to get seat ticket and walked across the park to the Serpentine gallery and had a look at Princess Diana memorial fountain. Meetup with Anna and her friend and went in. Watch, phone and bag in locker then giving headphones so no sound. Everyone moving slowly and calmly and directed by the artist and assistants. I waited and did a dot to dot picture of Ciaran using peas and rice. Very calming! Some sleeping, others walking up and down. We then walked to the Sackler gallery which I did not like. The artist in video smoking and drinking and an unpleasant video of a severed head falling downstairs which Anna thought funny. To Balham library and met Chris Tew, Maria Dickey and Ferelith in quick succession! Lady asleep on train opposite me with case obviously off a flight  -decided not to wake her! Liz to confirmation. To Catenians and admitted Danny and Juan - they will be an asset. 5 visitors and a very pleasant evening. Watched a bit of Antiques Roadshow.

Angela's farewell and Chris Tew

To York Gardens library for farewell to Angela. Met her husband and sister and brother-in-law. A nice do - Meryl and Jane there. Chatted to Philomena Menton. Then walked to the Beehive pub in St John's Hill to meet Chris Tew - a Fullers pub so drank London Pride. A good chat about music and family history.

Neighbourhood watch party

Another busy day but managed to get to tai chi. Geoff away in October but class will continue. Need to practise! To party in Battersea Park and Chris Tew gave me a lift home. Met a fascinating man called Richard Jones interested in so many things not least Lebanon and Israel.
