Carol service discussed with Fr  Jerry Garton . All well.  Ann- Marie Woodhouse and Henry came to Beckenham circle pub lunch at Eden Park delicious roast and pud. To Acton and boys in bed at 8.15. Listening to Brahms on radio 3. Liz at servers council with cakes.  The opera exhibition at V and A is fab! The Duke of Kent was there. Science museum has an interesting display on science and photography in India. Excellent session on welcoming at the cathedral. 25 came to hear  Alan Rainer   on failure of British education and Irina Bradley on icons. Lovely birthday dinner at Cote with  Louise Maher  the boys and  Dennis Woodhouse .  From Acton to art. Dentist checkup but just a clean £20. To Alexandra Palace for Donald Mackenzie on the organ for 1949 colour film London's river playing Fantasy on British sea songs and The Navigator. Buster Keaton at his funniest.

Tuesday swam. To RAC club to meet Michael Redman for lunch. I had forgotten to wear a jacket but there was no problem. Siriol did not come. Had roast beef and Yorkshire pudding in the Long Bar. Took a photo of the lovely swimming pool. Then to Aldgate East for visit to the East London mosque which is very impressive. I popped into Whitechapel gallery and saw Emily Jacir exhibition.  Liz and Jan came and Juber was a most informative host explaining Islamic history very clearly. We also saw the old synagogue which the mosque has purchased - it is right next door and there were still old prayer books and shawls under the seats. Then we went to Moorgate and got a train to Alexandra Palace. The dinner was good (steak pie and trifle) and was in the Lanesborough room which has remarkable frescoes. The silent film was brilliantly accompained by Duncan Mackenzie. Buster Keaton in the Cameraman and we also saw London scenes. There were some technical hitches and at one point the organ stopp...

Swam 30 so upped my game! Collected oasis for Advent wreath. Liz went back to doctor's again and complained. The sample has now been accepted. We met Peter Simpson at Spaghetti house and had a delightful meal. I had to leave to get to Westminster interfaith meeting at Vaughan House and had a look at the website again. Liz went to SOAS and Acton and I headed for Alexandra Palace for Duncan Mackenzie brilliantly accompanying Buster Keaton The Blacksmith and Harold Lloyd's For heaven's sake. I laughed so much I cried. Liz found her Christmas present in my drawer!
