On iplayer the Prom of Holst Ode to death and Vaughan Williams Martyn Brabbins conducting - lovely way to start the day! We sang Bread of the world arranged by Alan Bullard. I played Poco adagio from Saint-Saens organ symphony and Flor Peeters on Cwn Rhondda and Lasst uns erfreuen. Train times changed again so home in time to listen to "I'm Sorry I haven't a clue". Played Dancing years Novello selection and Brewer Marche heroique on piano. Took music to David Dibbs miserable rain. Great singing and playing from Southern Cathedrals festival at Salisbury Blair in B minor, Jonathan Dove, Vierne. RVW Pastoral symphony and Parry Symphony No. 5 on Iplayer. Poldark came to an end for the moment (sad). Watched Shostakoich, Beethoven and Rachmaninov from prom. Henry came to stay overnight and went off to sleep happily. 

Woke late so no swim. Christmas letter sent out but it says I am 79! To Beckenham bookshop and art shop about framing portraits. Nicholas Mannoukas played Advent and Christmas programme at short notice at St George Beckenham. Nice to see John, Ken and Peter. To Langley Park golf club for Beckenham's Christmas dinner. Sea bass enjoyed chatting to Barbara Ferrando. Paid deposit for Spain trip.

An outstanding evensong on radio 3 from the Eton choral course - Blair, Bairstow, Wesley's The wilderness and Mendelssohn sonata No 3 first movement. Finally caught up on Peter Simpson's blog!

On Wednesday I took it easy and finished reading Michael Palin's excellent "New Europe". I also went to the dentist again and Judy did the root flling. I didn't go the cathedral spirituality day or my Sharing in his life group or the servers Guild dinner but Liz did. She also went to the presentation of Guild of Church Musicians awards by the Cardinal in the Lady chapel and she served at that. Alas I missed meeting Desmond Tutu!!! Grrrrr! Always wanted to meet him! Alison Stimpson got her ACertCM. Actually had I been there I would nto have gone to tea as I would have had my group meeting any way. Such is life! Thursday to my health check and all is well. Same South African lady doctor I saw last year and she said I was OK. Then to the church to find Last Post and Reveille copy for Remembrance Sunday which turned out to be under Blair, Hugh! Practised that and the other pieces.
