Back at the Gate. Yesterday Met Eugene Onegin with Netrebko and Ticciati conducting superb. Today RSC Julius Caesar I am particularly impressed by Cassius played by Martin Hutson. The killing of the boy Lucius is not in the play - the innocent suffer in a revolution. Had a quiet day at Acton and time to read the play. Swam on Tuesday and Mass Tuesday and Thursday. Saw Fr Sunith. Painted a baby elephant at art and Liz was at interfaith lunch. 4 spoke on forgiveness. Fr Adrian was there. Watched Tuscany, Masterchef and Mind over marathon.Victoria Wood tribute. 

Swam 20 and after breakfast met Julie at Thornton Heath library. As expected drawings can be hung high up but mosaics cannot be fixed down at all! Sent off scans of Herbert Harold Worley material to York Minster for use in education department. To St Stephen Wallbrook for Jonathan Hope assistant at Gloucester cathedral. He played Bairstow and Ireland and his Bach was most impressive. Dupre and Langlais as well. He is a tall strong man and his playing reflects that. To the Globe for Julius Caesar. Brilliant acting especially Brutus and Antony. No wonder Mandela loved this play! It says everything about power and politics. Cameron is having a bad time at the moment. The American next to me spent all the time on his phone! To Catenian council at Brendan's - the little Irish barman Joe at the golf club has died suddenly.  Kevin Ingram suggested a weekend away for our 90th anniversary next year. Friday woke late so no swim again! Met Phil in street and saw prommer from LPC. Got a birthday card for Louise and later posted it and got food. First movement of the Whitlock sonata which is dedicated to Dorothy L. Sayers and reflects Rachmaninov and Delius who died the year it was composed. On return home I checked Dad's score of it - fiendishly difficult! Did some work. Produced my first column on forthcoming art events and ROH student standby scheme for The Lion. To ENO for Julius Caesar - we got Metro offer £55 upper circle seats for £10 each! A brilliant production with great singers especially Laurence Zazzo. Very clever production with excellent dancing.
