Holy Innocents

Holy Innocents at South Norwood. Only 18 churches in UK have this dedication. Fr John and  5 others! Nice lunch and chat. Helped to clean the Lady Chapel with Mother Roxane. We really enjoyed Mary Poppins returns at the new West Norwood picturehouse. The library is nice but could do with more books and a bit of presentation of stock! For some odd reason the desk is on the back wall well away from the entrance! Christmas university challenges. Not a good idea to put mince pies in the microwave! I won The Tablet crossword Dec 8.

Margaret Bookless

Wednesday afternoon to Holy Innocents church for the simple funeral of Margaret who lived in our road. What a dark gloomy church! She supported my save the library campaign. Turns out she knew loads of people and was very erudite - the house is full of books including Chinese, German and French. The organist was no great shakes -dull beforehand, Sheep may safely graze was an approximation and Faure In paradisum an arrangement - wish I had offered. The King of love and Lord of all hopefulness and eulogy form her cousin and Fr Andrew who knew her well. Nice eats in the hall and met URC secretary and Irwin from Streatham synagogue. His wife supports the Mental health group. Walked home with Jim and Hyacinth. Liz went shopping.
