Balham

Swam 34 and saw Marvin. To Balham library which is looking great - saw Linda, Julian, Chris and David. Jeremy to cafe for cappuccino and carrot cake. Got glue and passport photos for Proms pass. Cleared up garden and hoovering. Watched programmes on Petworth House spring clean, Hasidic Jews and matchmaking, the problem with love and sex about Relate.

What a day!

Swam 40 lengths and pleased pool has reopened but gents change room in darkness! Had a run in with cleaner about cleaning downstairs and gardener about removing ivy. Comments form said staff were inflexible - can only think of 1 such! Lady distraught that library might close so I assured her that one of the busiest in London would not close! David came to lend car seat for Alexis and he folded up the playpen. Only 3 at practice as Jenny coming back from Lincoln and Bob in hospital with stroke.

Knackered

Awoke early so walked to the pool only to find it closed as pumps had broken down. Met Geoff Boulton on the early train. I fixed up a wire cover over the desk wires using my electric screwdriver and also fixed a broken drawer. Did a lot of clearing out in staff room and music and basement. Have now got a recycling bin in each room. Tired out - had chicken and Christmas pudding left from yesterday's lunch. Harry will give us a lift next Tuesday.

RFID

Swam 32. Had not been for a week. RFID or SI self issue went live and the computers were removed from the issue desk. I spent nearly the whole day on the enquiry desk double discharging books but the staff worked well and the public reacted well to the new system. Pretty tired. Watched Gareth Malone at prep school for boys - last in series. RSCM committee want to get him next year! Liz at Bow.
