Spamalot

To Sanderstead and Rene Barrett had sorted out David's booklets for me so I chose a lot about London and Surrey for possible circle walks. We had tea and a good chat. Liz had gone up early to the theatre and I parked at Norwood Junction and just got there for 6 p.m. Spamalot was hilarious and very well done. Laughed a lot. I can just imagine Paul and Dennis and Ann at the show especially as one of the characters was called Dennis. Loved the jokes about the guards. Watched Birds of a feather and An Island Parish and Naples cuisine and art.

Clergy supper

Karen swopped keyboards (I had taken hers by mistake from Coulsdon) but now I don't have a music stand - Karen will look for it! Result no swim. Mosaic and Linda back from Kos. I was early and got a lot done. Ta'i chi and 2 new recruits. To Balham library and it poured! Got a book on Vaughan Williams and 2 books by the Dalai Lama. To clergy supper of Norwood and Beckenham circles. Picked up Fr Tony from East Croydon and a pleasant meal. Canon Jim Pannett spoke well. Fr Joe was there but avoided any contact with him! A good turnout. Sat with Rene Barrett.

Singing

Woke at 4 a.m. and looked up local choirs. I suppose it depends what we really want to do now. It's great to sing with an orchestra rather than the organ. A good chamber choir doing things like Bach Magnificat and the Passions would be good. We are not used to paying a subscription! I have a gut feeling that all this has happened for some other purpose yet to be revealed as is so often the case. Swam 34. Watched last programme on Impressionists but dropping off! To St Matthew's Westminster for Andrew Sampson's recital including Parry, Bohm, Durufle and his own arrangement of Parry's Lady Radnor suite which worked well. Liz to hospital for stitches out. Lovely letter from Rene thanking me which bucked me up no end.
