Monday July 13th to swim, tai chi and to Battersea Park school for Outward Bound film, demo and speeches by students very well delivered. To Only Bar One near Selfridges to meet Liz, Claire, Louise, Tom and Bruce and then to Pizza Express which was great. Had some strong Prague beer and Italian one 6%. Four seasons pizza and tiramisu. Buses home. It was a great evening. Claire and Bruce had been to the shops. Tuesday 36 lengths. Claire flew out. To Wandsworth Pensioners forum for 4th time to do Songs from the shows. Remaine the work experience student and I had spent time on restapling the booklets from last time and crossing out songs we were not doing. Did 40 minutes playing and singing and it went really well. My musical tie was appreciated and Tony Tuck held the mike for me. Back at the library by 3.30 p.m. so only had to take 90 minutes leave! Home to upload photos from Scotland.

To town hall on July 2nd for Leisure and amenities health and safety meeting which was cordial. The director very chuffed about Investors in people award again and liekd my comment on the new H and S law poster which it seems I am one of the few to have received! To Tate modern for the futurism exhibition and Kirkby whose work does not inspire! I left a comment on the poor guiding in the futurism - captions too small and too far from the pictures and no small booklet - saving on paper! To chorus rehearsal. Friday 3rd to Battersea Park school to see the excellent art work. Choir practice very small attendance!

Two Arts festival events at the library. The reading group welcomed Dennis Kelly and Ann. Only 6 came but all enjoyed it. I was quite honest and told the author "The ornament book" was difficult to read because of the short sentences and Italian English. The truth is one did not care what happened to the heroine as the author does not like plots! He was formerly a lecturer so had us doing readings and discussing elements of the novel! At 2 p.m. the big band from Battersea Park school played outside despite light showers and wind and was very well receieved especially the steel band. Their teacher Andrew was pleased. Fr Tim celebrated Mass and my librarian's red tie with the books was much appreciated. I must be doing something right as I not only got a ticket for the big Mass on the 21st but am also serving with Liz so I will give the ticket back to Canon Christopher. The arrangements are incredible and the Westminster diocese has a good blog about it all. Watched Charles...

Tuesday 34 lengths as I woke up late having woken at 4 a.m. I was exhausted on Monday after PRP interview and important meeting about the choir. I was too tired to nip into the after Beckenham meeting for a drink so came home and got an early night. I am enjoying "The white tiger" very much and read it in the park at lunch time. I do love the spring with daffodils and crocuses out and the sun shining. PRP interview with Marie from Tooting - she is a delight and we are lucky to have her until the library reopens in December. She comes from Mauritius and has a slight French accent. Liz joined me for the musical at Battersea Park school. As guests we enjoyed bucks fizz in the headmaster's office before the show which was excellent. Not my kind of music or singing but all did really well and we enjoyed it. The cast were clearly enjoying themselves not least the lead who had an infectious grin. Straight to bed as tired out and woke at 4 a.m. Had a lie-in - no sign of Ann on Sk...

Friday afternoon I went along to the school to visit Eunice in the library and see the artwork. The Picasso and Chesterton school stuff will be displayed at the library. I then went to the Rose community clubroom to see the display about the proposed new U.S. Embassy which looks impressive.
