Matthew Martin

Tuesday Daphne came and said I looked tired - I certainly feel early retirement should be considered. One of the new RFID machines is not working properly and the engineer did not turn up. Home to watch a bit of the tiger programme before dropping off! Wednesday to Glyn Close for more clearing up and then to St Michael's for Jonathan Price's recital. He is from Bristol and played Whitlock, Guilmant and Puccini. To Woodside Green before the dentist which took an hour for a crown and filling costing £191 and now a bridge is proposed costing £1100! Evensong from Chichester cathedral featuring Welsey and Harris and marking 50 years of the Southern Cathedrals festival. To the cathedral for Matthew Martin's excellent recital of Litaize, Alain, Langlais, Whitlock Elegy and Francis Pott's toccata. Chatted to Peter Stevens, Martin Ball and Jack Beeson. Watched programme about Sunningdale school and more of the Pope's Mass in Birmingham.

2 organ recitals and Rabbi Mark

To Emertons to get iron water and Addiscombe to take curtains to be dry cleaned. Tram and train to Victoria for interfaith group with Rabbi Mark on the afterlife and funerals. Fascinated by the Talmud idea of heaven as a dance around God. Many Jews do not believe in an afterflife! 11 there. Train and tram to St Michael's for recital by Peter King of Bath Abbey. Excellent JSBach, Pescetti sonata which I play, Graham Fitkin's Wedding, Alfred Hollins Maytime Gavotte and Mendelssohn. Home for lunch and Liz busy in the garden. She went to hospital and chorus. I cut up lounge carpet while listening to evensong from Westminster Abbey featuring Byrd. Ironing and emails. To Westminster cathedral for recital by Colin Walsh.Stanford, George Bennett, Franck, Tournemire, Langlais, Litaize and Vierne Toccata. Met Liz on train. Watched excellent play about John Lennon and his poor relationship with his father and his son. Hot today.

Arnfinn Tobiassen

Had an argument as I had been able to access my records on the new Philharmonia Chorus website (I vary from 6 to 8 but usually good and semi-chorus) but Liz could not access hers so she changed email back to the a.woodhouse one. Can still get emails to new address but it's confusing. I said open a new email account and give that to the chorus or use my google mail account. To St Michael's on a lovely day for the 12 noon recital by Arnfinn. I was late because Conservatives came to the door. What were my concerns locally so I said parking and not wanting residents permits as they will charge us to park in the end. I should have mentioned the housing developments locally which are taking away green spaces and not in keeping with the area. David said he votes green and has no time for parties or unions! I would certainly never vote Tory after the way I have been treated with job cuts in the past. I enjoyed Arnfinn's playing - even Franck's Pastorale! Bach, Marchand, Litaize...
