The boys are chilling out listening to Harry Potter! To Croydon crem for funeral of Alan Barley. There were some fine tributes .I know Pauline from art group and only met Alan twice both of those occasions at the exhibition and we was so happy for Pauline. The reception was at Cricket for change opposite Bandon Hill cemetery. The real mystery was recognising a couple at the centre - he is called Peter Sellars but we could not work out where we had met! Fr Dominic rang about Christopher's bid. Barry Williams rang and had a long chat. The publicity for National Organ day at Caterham done. Watched the Queen's jewels, Only connect, Red arrows in America and Michelangelo. 

Henry played happily upstairs. Mick came. To Picasso 1932 at Tate modern and did some sketches. To St Paul's cathedral for excellent presentation on the glory and scandal of the Cross in the Bible and poetry from Paula Gooder and Mark Oakley. Today catalogued a lot of library fiction and the kids came as book characters. To Anerley for excellent film on Michelangelo. Interesting that he was Christocentric. Nudity was obvious but nothing said about this poetry and homosexuality! Art and finished reading The music shop by Rachel Joyce which I loved.

Good programmes on Peggy Guggenheim and the Queen and Prince Philip's 70th wedding anniversary. Swam, Mass, posted calendar, art and came out I had a £65 parking fine as wheels were on pavement. If the officials would fine those who park on corners on double yellow lines I might be happier. The rest of that road allows wheels on pavement to avoid buses.  Brilliantly constructed piano recital by Joanna MacGregor at National gallery. Lovely Lake Keitele paintings, Degas and Michelangelo with Raphael. To Clapham library but no fish book. Amazing spiral design. To Clapham picturehouse to see "Film stars don't die in Liverpool"  poignant scenes but subtitles would have helped with Liverpool and US accents. Listened to Choir and organ. National Gallery Michelangelo and Sebastiano, NPG Howard Hodgkin (either brilliant or a con) and the interesting Claude Canon and Gillian Wearing. I went to 2 Temple Place but hit a large coach party swamping the gallery. Lent lecture by Bishop Paul McAleenan on serving the poor. I wonder why only 3 places in Westminster diocese have given accommodation to refugees? To Whitechapel gallery and enjoyed Paolizzi and women photographers.  A real inspiration to listen to Lord Alf Dubs on efforts to bring unaccompanied refugee children to the UK. St Mary at Hill. The speaker's chaplain is impressive. Met a lady from Essex and a lady who may come to the group. A good day!  Friday swam 14 and to Mass. 

Set out to go to St John's coffee morning but discovered front tyre needed checking. It was resealed. Liz went to Lourdes Mass. To Chorus 2016 at South Bank centre and heard Choir with no name, Bexley and Gospel Oak groups. Plenty of enthusiasm, not my style of music. the conductor even got me moving arms and singing! One guy was wearing a deerstalker! Drawing at National Gallery - the Michelangelo entombment. Listened to some speeches at Trafalgar Square Refugees welcome demo. Foyles and then to Tim Harper's excellent recital at Bloomsbury Baptist. Vespers and Mass for Palm Sunday at the cathedral.

Second Catenian funeral of the week Paul Morris at Beckenham - such a gentleman. 2 free exhibitons about graffiti and elms not impressive. St Stephen Wallbrook has a most moving station based on the Turin shroud and photos of Syrian refugees.  Visited Tower of London for the station Crucifixion by Guy Reid and met Marcin Mazur  . To National Gallery for the last station and Michelangelo's Entombment and the Botticini altarpiece. Very powerful photos at St Martins in fields of refugees. To South London circle for mass for Ros David's wife Mgr Vlad and meeting. I suppose it is inevitable that the two funerals this week get compared. Pat's was personal with an excellent homiy although John tells me Orpington people cannot understand Fr Vella and he can preach for 45 minutes! Ashley Beck tends to the formal although there were some lighter touches like the aisles in Waitrose. Nice to meet Molly at the reception.  Like Show More Reactions ...

Staff meeting on Tuesday and training at town hall on new financial system which is much better and even has online tutorials! Swam 40 so am back to form as bus was late on Monday so did not get much time. Catenians on Monday and Eric Tope installed as President. Did tai chi Wednesday morning with DVD - mirrored movements are hard to follow! Liz went to singing lesson with Timothy Penrose. To Coulsdon to see Vickie. Confusion over evensong dates - did not have this coming Sunday and had offered a memorial service at 3 to Kevin so I am doing it. Organ has been tuned and I briefly saw the report from John Norman. No evensong in June but I am requesting support for the May Ascension one. Wants a responsorial psalm in summer. Got trains and tube to Notting Hill to the Gate cinema to see "No Greater love" about Notting Hill Carmelite convent - lovely film with interesting interviews - loved the liturgical bits and the dancing. Liz saw it yesterday. To Courtauld gallery at Somerset...
