St Dunstan Woking Advent reflection for musicians with Bishop Richard Moth. I madethe mistake of coming out of the wrong exit at Woking station and it was quite a long walk to the church. Paul Inwood and Catharine Christmas did a great job and some nice music apart from the Oosterhuis which was too low. I did an Isaiah reading. Lovely church and Liz Brereton gave me a lift to the station. I was at the cathedral in good time but in a lot of discomfort. Thibault did well as thurifer and Gregoire lit the pink candle. We left before the end and got a taxi to Thomas's A and E. 3 and a half hours wait and got antibiotics. Home by 11 despite rain and a wait at Balham. Stayed in bed on Sunday and got Shona to cover. Listened to Radio 3 Christmas around Europe in its 25th year and Rugby school evensong. Monday to mosaic and pleasant party at Kew. Organ was tuned despite the school turning up - complete muddleup. To Bromley Christmas meeting and Liz went to UCM meal. It was fairly dull with

Flame 17

Set off early to get train to Wembley Central then bus. I got off too early and ended up walking round Wembley stadium which was the wrong place. It was Wembley Arena, Met William outside but when we went in Bill said Oh you must be with the other Catenians. I was not on the list. Any way ended up giving out 1000s of bursary fund cards. The kids tended to come in vast droves so it wasn't easy. 10 coachloads from Newcastle. Others got T shirts to wear. I do not think I will dot his again as I got tired standing. Met several bishops including Bernard Longley, Paul Hendricks, Nicolas Hudson and Richard Moth. Matt Redman sang - not bad but loud. CAFOD and Sarah Teather excellent. Left before final liturgy with the Cardinal. Hold up on Bakerloo so train to Euston. Got to Mass in time. Michael Quaqoe. Watched Real Marigold hotel. Tired out bed early and got up an hour too early!

An excellent day at Holy Apostles Pimlico about welcoming returning Catholics. Archbishop Vincent welcomed us and Bishop Richard Moth gave an excellent address. I was the only server at Mass, Teresa Brown came from Northampton to play! Workshops on social action and Keeping in touch and Landings both excellent and we heard 2 moving stories from those who had returned. Enjoyed meeting people. At Mass Archbishop Vincent celebrated for New Catholics and Mark spoke about vocations. Paul M told me something exciting in confidence! Watched string final of Young Musician.

No practice and after coffee to OLd Coulsdon congretional church where I met the minister and had a look at the interesting Bibles exhibition. To Victoria and open day at Westminster City Hall - great views and lovely silver and maces. Lovely gifts to the city as well form Jordan, Israel and Oslo among others. Got on 11 bus to go to Quaker meeting house only to find it was diverted. I got off at St Thomas hospital and walked over Westminster bridge which was closed because of the cycle race and got underground back to Victoria. The mass was at 3 p.m. empty seats.
