Up at 7 Uber at 8.05 to East Croydon and straight onto train to Gatwick. Coffee and pastry at Wetherspoons where you can fill flasks. Slight delay on tarmac Easyjet. Smooth flight and picked up car Vauxhall Corsa. Drove to b and b where we stayed before. Alas they are selling it. Picked up Bruce and Emma and back to car hire so Bruce can drive us around. To St Peter's garden centre for tea and lemon meringue pie. Bought calendars excellent choice. Back for rest. To Wildfire grill in town. This is discount month I had melons, steak, profiteroles and cider, Liz had belly of pork. Delicious £55 for both of us. Watched programme on 4 year olds with elderly. Tuesday showers excellent breakfast. To Jersey Zoo saw Andean bear, keeper talks on macaques, gorillas, orangutans. Gibbon. Madagascar teal , cranes, bats, howler monkey, After lunch Visayan warty pigs, meerkats, reptiles, Kirindy forest lemurs. Komodo Dragon has gone. Coatis. 3rd visit and really enjoyed it.Slept. To Bass and Lob...

Up at 7 and bus to East Croydon and train to Gatwick arrived 9.15. 10.15 Easyjet flight delayed to 12.15. Air traffic controllers were off sick. Avis car and got confused trying to get to the zoo going round the island. Ended up at Poplar tea rooms for clotted cream tea. Went past La Rocca. Excellent air bomb and charming host. Tea in Sun lounge. Trevor sounds South African but is Jersey born. Bruce picked us up and excellent dinner at  Little Thai. Bream and grilled pineapple. Tuesday 10th rain overnight . Bruce took us to Jersey War tunnels which was fascinating and very wellpresented then to the Jersey military museum in a bunker on 5 mileroad. Lots to see there too. To the wildlife hide and saw lots of birds. Tea and lemon drizzle cake at Elizabeth Best jewellery at St Peter windmill.  To the breakwater in the rain and a lovely coast drive back for a rest and read a brief history of Jersey by Peter Hunt. The spring flowers and willows are lovely. Excellent dinner at Bass...

Monday a holiday and we all went to the Durrell trust - a lifetime ambition achieved. Lovely site and great work for conservation. Andean bears, amphibians, orangs, gorillas, gibbons, lemurs, otters, meerkats. Boys loved it. Waited ages for a burger! All enjoyed St Brelade's beach and group photo. Liz and I went to concert for Nepal at St Thomas's which has remarkable paintings byMark Hammond. The choirs did well but the organ was pop style and did not like the soprano. Boys upstairs as Lou and Tom went out for dinner.
