The organist librarian

Some of the parish are in Walsingham so Archdeacon Moira presided. We sang Bread of the world and I played Andrew Moore on Aurelia (dedicated to me) and John Bertalot on Repton (dedicated to Martin How because he went to school at Repton). I also played a piece discovered this week Prayer by Rene Vierne. Special trip to Croydon Minster for the flower festival it being Birth of John the Baptist tomorrow their patron. A bit disappointing. Nothing outside about it! So people just walking past unaware! Evensong Dyson and Nardone A new commandment. Antiques roadshow and Equator from the air. Did servers rota and typed up John East's conversion story. 

Music Sunday and great to have Elaine back. Jerry pulled all the stops out and there was a retiring collection. Mentioned by name in the prayers! We sang When in our music God is glorified and Nardone setting. Played Slater on St Botolph and Lang Tuba tune. Oscar from Worth Abbey school will join us to sing bass! Pets service lots of barking dogs. Played All creatures great and small and The Swan and Handel Cuckoo and Nightingale. Surprised to see Dennis with Henry and Molly and he gave me a lift home. Hot. Ar evensong we sang Anthony Caesar's O love divine. Enjoyed counntryfile on royal estates and Poldark. Very impressive women's marches and Antiques roadshow on women.

Watched Poldark and Victoria. Practised Faure and Rachmaninov. To Bloomsbury Baptist which is being repaired. Sarah Kim played Bach, Danse macabre, Durufle and Krebs. Pity I had to leave. Fr John at Mass and the choir of Holy Redeemer, Billericay sang well. Good to see Andrew Wright's assistant again - Archer , Kerll, Nardone and Haydn.

Francesca Massey  played really well at Bromley parish church. To St George's cathedral Southwark for 60th anniversary Mass for HCPT and gave out all the Catenian bursary fund leaflets. Saw Maureen Martin and lots of others I know including Michael from Westminster cathedral. Tea and cake afterwards. Took the collection! Drums far too LOUD and constant! David Gummett and Fr Gerald were there.  Liz back from Aylesford after servers mass. To Croydon Minster for unique concert in aid of the organ appeal. Lovely to hear Peter Nardone singing. Andrew Cantrill ,  Simon Lole ,  Nigel McClintock ,  Carl Jackson ,  Ian Keatley  and David Swinson. The choir under Ronnie  Ronny Krippner  sounding really well. Also saw Stephen Disley, Marie and Mollie from Coulsdon,  Colin Boswell  is leaving sadly. Martin How,  Anne Fleming . Quite an evening.  Denise Mead , Gail Winter and Julie Beaumont. Jo is leaving Coulsdon to move to Norwich. ...

Woke early and we all went to the station together as Ann and Paul went off to Reading. Served at morning prayer. I was wearing the scarlet wimp as mitre bearer. Choir sang the Vittoria and Anerio beautifully. To Trafalgar Square for the Passion of Jesus. Sat at the side and watched it on the big screen. It was very moving and well done. Liz went back to the cathedral and I went to St Michael's. There were 24 there and Paul gave a powerful sermon on God is dead - it's between me and God will not do. Home by 4.30 and Liz back around 6.45. Dennis came down. Songs of Praise from Bradford including Nardone A new commandment. Have found a lot of family history photos for York.

My feast day. The Anglicans have my favourite gospel which was always read at St John's College at school Masses about Peter asking if John will live to see the return of Jesus. Catholics read about Peter and John running to the tomb "he saw and believed". To St John's for Eucharist - attractive Mass of St Cedd by Peter Nardone, Philip Ledger's Christmas gloria and Eyre's O fragrant the lilies. Gave out carol CDs which were much appreciated. Jo Richards said he had seen me as crucifer at the cathedral. Josie, Clare and Grandma for lunch which was very nice. To vespers and Mass for feast of Holy Family - 4 priests at Mass. Told Fr Swavek Liz had opened Polish gherkins and had to be eaten in 48 hours! Here is John Keble's great hymn for today. 1. To St John's for Harvest evensong - canticles by Coleridge-Taylor, Kindle a flame by Michael Fleming and "A new commandment" by Peter Nardone, all composers who lived locally. The same programme will be sung by the choir at Southwark cathedral on Saturday. Liz will go but I will be working. Watched Antiques roadshow and Michael Palin in Eastern Europe.
