Fr Robin

Took Ciarán to Amandas - he really enjoyed it and sang along and danced. He did mention Mummy and Daddy a bit but they had gone for the scan and all is well! Had half a roast chicken at Sainsburys for £3.50 and Ciarán ate his sandwiches and dropped off when we got to Mass at Chiswick. Liz took him back to Acton and I headed for the Hinsley room for the afternoon session. Fr Robin heard my confession and was very helpful. I spoke in the final session about Zia and how he challenged me to find out about Islam -  a good friend used by God to help! To 64 Whitehall for the final Faith and Society session. Very interesting especially Cole Moreton and Aaqil Ahmed commissioning BBC editor for religious programmes. He answerd my question about the Papal visit and the need for programmes showing social action by faith volunteers. Spoke to Charles Cole, Steve Miller, Rachel Heilbron, Philip and Mansour, Watched The Apprentice and programme on silver. Email connection playing up.

Mayor of London's interfaith forum

Up early and X68 to King's College Strand. Took some time to find the breakfast whcih was in Somerset House - nice scrambled egg with salmon. The Mayor was inimitable and funny about Rahab! The day was designed to ensure we met as many people as possible so made some useful contacts especially Buddhist ones. Good to see RCs there including Alan Morris. The workshop on the Big society was interesting and the interfaith future one was well led by Rachel Heilbron. Enjoyable day with a few hiccups. Buses to Acton and arrived there before Ciarán and co. Wednesday took Ciarán to music and bought a CD as we will all miss the sessions! We took him to the park which he loved. He went out to tea and we made our way home. Thursday getting ready to go away and sorting out. Car serviced. Gloucester cathedral evensong good.

Carol singing and interfaith

6th Advent carols at Coulsdon and all went well. 14th to Wimbledon to play carols for old folks from Wandsworth. They seemed keen to drink and chat and 12 days of Christmas with actions was the most popular. Some got up and did solos! 15th medical checkup at Medicentre Waterloo and the lady South African doctor from Pretoria very pleased with me. My fat count is up a bit which happens with age but she said keep up the swimming and walking and the good diet. I reckon I need to cut down on biscuits and sweets. To a fascinating afternoon at the IIPR Institute for Policy research - seminar on interfaith and community at 30 Southampton Street. Came home to find Ciarán here. We had had lots of visitors - I took Grandma and Josie home. 16th Interfaith meeting with Rachel Heilbron of the 3 Faiths forum - she is a delight and 12 came inculding Jon Dal Din and Sr Hilda. Went home and then to Chesterton school at 4 p.m. for Christmas buffet - not a great success - the former head friendly and cha...
