An exciting week.

Monday to see Fr Witon with Rita and he agreed that the cathedral will mark Season of creation! Smitf prayers and chat to Noel. Excellent talk by Carmody Grey.

Tuesday Best surprise ever? Liz said to me that Louise was coming over to Crystal Palace so I popped along to Bookseller Crow on the Hill. Imagine my amazement when I got to Blackbird to find Bruce there! We have not seen him for 2 years! It's a pity Dennis could not join us. And even better news Louise and Bruce are going to THE WEDDING in Sydney and we are invited to Jersey in October.

Letter to Bishop John revised and sent. There were misunderstandings from Magda and I did not take kindly to being told how to write to a bishop I have known for a long time! He responded very positively. Bed and towels done. Been swimming 3 times this week!

Thursday Garden cleared up. Ironing Season of creation webinar. Norman's recital was just odd. I like the Ridout but nothing else. Cooking week!

Friday to St John's for excellent Ensemble 26 concert Phibbs, Saint-Saens and Brahms horn trio. Consecration of Rosemarie Bishop of Croydon. SM Sacred music. Come dine and Drawers off which was won by a woman who does collage! Is that art?

Saturday SM at Dan Carter's with Olya from Ukraine. S and B. Cash from Sainsbury's and drove straight in at Purley tip. China ended up on hardcore! St John's fair went well and the organ recital was appreciated. 2 people came to play. Caterham school orchestra hit by Covid so Tristan played the piano. To Thornton Heath Community hub and met Green Party Councillor and Elizabeth Ash. Had a rest. Mass at West Norwood and saw Teresa and Sue. Cooked Thai style pork and rice. Samson and Delilah from ROH. Anna Maxwell Martin and Matt Lucas Who do you think you are.

Lovely radio 3 programme with nightingales. The fair yesterday raised at least £950! I played Land of our birth Ralph Vaughan Williams. Prelude on Melita Rosalie Bonighton and Finale from the Royal Fireworks music which was much enjoyed. Sang Bread of the world arr Alan Bullard. Pictures taken down. Delicious chocolate cake with coffee. Picked up Liz and got bamboo sticks for the beans. We sang "Eternal Father strong to save" - the experience of singing that in Noye's Fludde was brilliant - what a master Britten is! And how clever of a pacifist to use a hymn associated with the navy. Noye sings a beautiful line about peace. A very clear message! Open garden 40 Greenways Beckenham - well worth a visit. Nice cake and real tea made with tea leaves! B. Southwark cathedral compline. Ate outside. Victoria and music. Face to face with Simone Signoret. Back to Birmingham. Weeded emails.
