Cheltenham

Dennis gave us a lift to East Croydon so we were early at the bus station. Straight through in 3 hours and Robert picked us up. His wife had an ankle replacement. Lovely upside down house very comfortable right next to Pittville Park. Good chat. Walked in park 23 degrees and to Turtle Bay Caribbean restaurant. Excellent cocktail jerk chicken whiteboard and grilled pineapple.Jamaican Red Star beer. Edinburgh won University challenge from Teddys but it was close.
Tuesday Good breakfast with Robert. I woke at 4. Nice walk through Pittville park and got sandwiches atSpar. Arrived at St Nicholas at 9.30. 16 on course. Eucharist at 10. The rector prayed for all church leaders and bishop Declan. Great way to start. Holst's father played at All Saints Pittville. Drawing lightly. I chose Risen Christ which Ian did for Lichfield cathedral. Liz went to Holst birthplace museum.
Wednesday. Slept 8 hours. Drawing and first lines after transferring the tracing. To the ladies college and Sarah Baldock welcomed us and it was a treat to play Howells on the Tickell organ. We had fish and chips at Bayshill pub. Liz went on steam railway from the racecourse.

Thursday Liz spent doing cross stitch. After prayers for on with more layers. Had to do darker one again and some  came off because not dried. Frustrating but kept calm. Fr Robert Wright took me to All Saints Pittville where Holst's father was first organist. Magnificent 4 manual and huge building with Byrne-Jones stained glass. Bach, Slater, Howells, Holst hymntunes. Pizza and local ale at Feathered Fish.John
Friday and Saturday were both full on busy days. Time was spent splitting pigments into sets of 9. Information overload was definitely a problem so despite notes something got missed. Liz went to Gloucester cathedral and a recorder concert at St Christopher's. Nice to meet Inga on crutches. Food and wine from M and S. The question of continuing is a difficult one. Bethlehem would be amazing but costly. I am relieved to have completed the icon because I simply don't have the time at home. Coach back to Victoria 5.40. Only 2 attending service which is Taize  and not really icons and we had our own blessing after clearing tables.
Watched Rembrandt 3 and Oscar Wilde on coach 3 hours Home by 10.
