Swam, Balham library for scores and Waitrose, art and did 3 large drawings. Excellent talk on Shakespeare and acting by Michael Pennington. Shakespeare prom was fun with Walton, Finzi, Sullivan, Jody Talbot, Porter and Rodgers and saw  Robin Martin  playing.

To the AGM of Friends of Grangewood Park. Impressed by the committee's enthusiasm and ideas - 47 joined this year. To Widmore Road URC Bromley for organists composite recital. I played Walton 3 pieces from Richard III. We had Rowley, Vierne, JSB, Pachelbel, Vierne, Bedard. Vespers and Mass at the cathedral then to Clapham Picturehouse for the outstanding RSC Shakespeare celebration. You name they were in it! Twice this week I have gone out without my right hand hearing aid. This is because of the bad habit f only putting one in to go swimming! I am still waiting for a hearing test.

To British library for Shakespeare in 10 acts - great exhibition but a severe lack of places to sit down. Why stand for 2 minutes watching a video? To the Foundling museum which has a small exhibition of children in books and the fine Handel collection. Regent Street in the rain for oil painting class and then to St Mark Hamilton Terrace for excellent concert in aid of Great Ormond street hospital by Ashley Grote and Tansy Castledine. She remembered  Bruce Woodhouse . Nice chat to Maurice Merrall and I introduced him to Ashley.

The news that Pope Francis washed the feet of a woman Muslim prisoner will certainly upset the traditionalists and I hope it does! The Tablet says he washed the feet of 12 mothers on a previous occasion. To the cathedral for Morning prayer and I was book bearer. Superb Victoria responsories and Anerio Christus factus est. To St John's for 12 noon liturgy. Sanders Reproaches. I had book open at Casals O vos omnes instead of Gesualdo - oops! Nice soup and cheese lunch. I had leek and potato and the pasta and vegetable. Sat with Joy and Geoff. Feeling annoyed by Mary Smith who commented on us not being at rehearsal which Adrian had agreed. To St Michael's and 30 there and all went well - relatively simple. Fr Paul took off sandals and chasuble to venerate - very dramatic and he sang the prayers very well. Perhaps he was a professional singer. I somehow doubt it. He certainly has stage experience. Liz was up late baking a second batch of hot cross buns which were delicious. Seems ...

 Sunday to St Alban's South Norwood to play for the service. Fr Russell sings well and welcoming choir who sang the psalm. It seems I play quicker than the resident Frank - the organ not in good state. Mr Jackson who was our piano tuner died and his wife went back to Thailand - his ashes are buried under the altar. Met Liz for lunch at Prezzos on a special offer and delicious. To British Museum for community preview of Shakespeare's world - a very fine exhibition with many lovely objects. Glad we went. Liz came home and I went to the preProm talk and the excellent Pelleas conducted by Gardiner. The Monteverdi choir had very little to sing. Sir John Tomlinson was outstanding.

Took garden compost to the tip. To Heythrop for 1 p.m.Mass. Fr Patrick O'Riordan SJ. We sang "Come down O love divine" "Ubi caritas" and Servant song. A small group sang a Tallis motet. Coffee chatted to Michael Smith and also saw Siriol. To Citizens UK Croydon planning meeting for June 9 at St Andrew's - lots of Catholic input. Watched Apprentice and Shakespeare in Italy.

Delightful TV programme first of 2.  Some progress today on Torch relay including contact from the Council. The query about bell ringing during the cycle races will not happen in Westminster. Voted - surprised at the number of parties many of which had had no coverage. Disillusioned with the main parties so went for Independent and Greens!

Watched the programme on Shakespeare and James I and the rest of the Damien Hirst programme about the exhibition which I may go to.
