Walking out!

Nice Valentines card from Liz. To Wapping Hurtado centre for an excellent session with Anne on imagining the Baptism of the Lord, I had never before imagined accompanying Jesus as he left home and being baptised with him  and welcomed by him. Pam Morris was there and Mary who knows Fr Tom at Forest Hill. Trains to Sanderstead and then bus to URC where Richard played Elgar Imperial march. His talk on being a BBC sound engineer was so dull and illprepared.  I played Bach Liebster Jesu and Willan and got chatting to Caroline from the church choir. Good turnout and I gave out the recital booklets. Got train to Victoria in good time and Brian was celebrant. A very good homily what I could hear of it. To Beckenham Ask Italian. A disaster and in the end we walked out without paying. In 2 hours and 10 minutes 1 drink, 1 olives, 1 calamari. The neighbouring table gave us pizza and prosecco! Valentine's Day

Liz informed me that I should have got a Valentines wife card from somewhere else rather than St Paul's bookshop. What was wrong with a lovely card from there? She dropped me at the station as I had pulled a muscle in my left shoulder on Wednesday when I woke up so missed swim. Have been doing 40 lengths each day. A busy day at work and straight to chorus as conductor was coming. Mark very smart in a suit as he was interviewed for Turkish TV and the cameraman took some shots. Wierdly the conductor just sat and listened and smiled! He said the Dvorak had not been performed in Turkey before. Liz went to Bow to do decorating using the old car and I returned home.

Wednesday morning and a visit to Tate Britain to see the new exhibition. I am a member of the Tate. The audioguide was very well done but at 11.30 a.m. there were far too many people there. A queue for the cloakroom, a queue to get the audioguide (prebooked), a queue to see the smaller pictures - it became very wearisome and tiring. A fine exhibition but many of the pictures need to be seen close up and if everything is on timed entry why not control numbers better? I wrote as much in the comments book I was offered when I returned my audioguide. I returned home to complete the March music list in time for the March parish maagazine. It being Valentine's Day we exchanged lovely cards and I gave Liz a box of chocs which she is not supposed to eat being a weight watcher! We had an excellent dinner at home with Marks and Spencer cava with pink fruit flavouring. By the time we had drunk the whole bottle I soon dropped off! Still the joys of married life after 33 years are companionship...
