St John's Day

To St John's for Sung Eucharist Eyre setting and O fragrant the lilies."Word supreme" to  Grafton. The preacher was the vicar from the Annunciation Bourne Street so I asked him about the mystery reliquary which contains part of St Charles Borromeo! We talked about interfaith and Thomas Merton as well! I did not go the vicarage lunch as Liz was not 100% again. Sean asleep and Louise took Ciaran to Godstone. Took recycling up to Glyn Close and brought Dennis down. Bruce and EJ went to Greenwich. We went for a walk at Crystal Palace park and Bruce rode his bicycle and enjoyed the dinosaurs and they went home around 7. Watched Don Quixote on TV.

My feast day. The Anglicans have my favourite gospel which was always read at St John's College at school Masses about Peter asking if John will live to see the return of Jesus. Catholics read about Peter and John running to the tomb "he saw and believed". To St John's for Eucharist - attractive Mass of St Cedd by Peter Nardone, Philip Ledger's Christmas gloria and Eyre's O fragrant the lilies. Gave out carol CDs which were much appreciated. Jo Richards said he had seen me as crucifer at the cathedral. Josie, Clare and Grandma for lunch which was very nice. To vespers and Mass for feast of Holy Family - 4 priests at Mass. Told Fr Swavek Liz had opened Polish gherkins and had to be eaten in 48 hours! Here is John Keble's great hymn for today. 1. Word supreme, before creation Born of God eternally, Who didst will for our salvation To be born on earth, and die; Will thy Saints have kept their station, Watching till thine hour drew nigh. 2. Now...

Beautiful icon courtesy of Fr Rob To work and to the museum to say farewell to Sue Barber and show her the service booklet for Helene la Rue. So sad that the museum is closing and went to West Hill library to fill 2 trolleys with excellent stock for Battersea Park library. The library closes on Saturday and will eventually be replaced by a library in the museum building which is quite unsuitable. Missed going to St John's Upper Norwood for the first time in many years. I like the Easter gospel for today when John outruns Peter to the tomb but he is the one who believes.
