A quiet Sunday

To Mass at Anerley and Fr Stuart preached really well.Ciarán was doing his lego model. The family came to pick him up and go to GoApe at Battersea Park - much rejoicing! Caught up on TV - treasures of the Indus, Anglo Saxons and the Wests on Stratford canal. Evensong from Blackburn. Senior school choir semi-final - brilliant singing! A good concert at St John's by St Bartholomew's orchestra well conducted by Florent de Bazelaire. Beethoven 4 well played by Aya Kawabata. Dvorak and Mozart 39. Watched the Durrells, Indian summers and Antiques roadshow.

Palm Sunday

Enjoyed singing at St John Upper Norwood and returned for a free community lunch! Plainchant Passion, Morley Nolo mortem, Wills Missa Passiona Christi. Watched mediaeval mind and Dr Thorne. Played for evensong at St John Caterham. Bach Herzlich, Brahms Herzliebster Jesu, Lasceux Fugue G minor. I lost my place in the Magnificat to chant B. A pleasure to meet the widow of Christopher Jones who wrote the words of the final hymn Faith overcomes and taught many of the bishops including Justin Welby and Bishop Libby. Highwood is the perfect tune for it. More on jigsaw and watched canal journey in Sweden. Liz sang at St John's in evening. Watched Indian summers and the Mediaeval mind series.Sent Indian journal to Xavier.

John Chumrow

Thursday lie-in again. Liz in Acton. To art and started on Cusco picture. Spent the afternoon writing the Christmas letter. To Catenian South London meeting and final 50th meeting of Southwark Group - did not stay for dinner  2 priests there. Liz moaning more had not been done on decorations. Friday to Golders Green crematorium for funeral of John Chumrow. A fitting tribute. Unfortunately Stefan got in on the act and conducted Brahms and Mahler - it was very loud and sopranos not good. Quite a few old friends there and saw Chris and David, Keith Chaundy gave us a lift to the hotel and we saw Stefan there. Keith gave us a lift to Victoria so we were home in time for Neil Molony coming for dinner which we enjoyed. Watched Island parish and Timothy West interview,
