Arrangements

I omitted to mention that on Tuesday went straight to the dentist's surgery for 8.40 p.m. and my top left molar was removed painlessly and very quickly by the doctor/dentist on NHS. It healed up quickly and used hot salt water to help. The new carpets arrived on Friday and look great to be followed by the new green leather suite with reclining chairs today. The new car comes Monday. Thursday I came home for lunch and then went back for 2 hours and on to chorus with Stefan. Friday to meeting about new section called "Beat the squeeze" and then to Shakespeares the funeral director. It now costs 3 times more than when Granddad died! We had ice cream and Ciaran enjoyed his pasta and bath. We went to the Windmill pub but Mary can't do food that day as her mother died 4 weeks ago. Fell asleep reading Henry IV part 2 - it was hot.

Back to work and Battersea Park talk

Swim and 140 emails to wade through! To Chorus Thursday June 25th. Friday 26th dentist put in temporary front tooth - back molar will have to come out. I can smile again - alas I now I have a gap between the two top front teeth but I can live with that! Saturday June 27th Jennifer Uhlmann who was formerly director of Battersea Park arrived early but it soon became clear the PowerPoint connection was not going to work and she called Parks Police who brought the vital missing lead and Micky Gwilliam got it going. The audience of 30 really enjoyed it not least the air conditioning on a hot day. The talk was excellent and my gift of flowers and chocs appreciated. Best turn out we have ever had for a library talk and lots more wanted to come.

A long gap

This must be one of the longest gaps in my tale for some time. My excuse is a fabulous holiday in Scotland and being very busy since our return and getting engrossed in Wimbledon! I'm pleased to say I have a temporary front tooth since my return from holiday awaiting a crown but I will lose one of my back teeth as a filling cannot be added to it any more!

Tooth

To my annoyance the repaired section of my top front tooth came out when I was cleaning my teeth last night so I am back with a jagged edge and a gap in my front teeth. Most annoying and unpleasant! Tony took a photo of me yesterday for church - I said I haven't even got a tie on but he said you look quite respectable. I had my jeans and red polo shirt on as it was warm!

Pentecost

Saturday morning and back OK so got up and Liz took me in the car. To my horror I was eating bread and nutella and part of my front tooth came out! This is the tooth broken when I had the fall 2 years ago. I already have a dentist's appointment as a big filling came out last week. So now I look like I did when I played Don Basilio with a blacked out tooth! A quiet day as it was the Cup final and 37 messages on email! Set up a heritage display as the Polish books went back and we now have 2 poetry displays matching the excellent BBC4 series. To vespers (smoke) and Mass with Fr Kingsley. In Veni creator at vespers the 3rd line of plainchant was clearly wrong or a different version! We did not get the sequence at Mass nor did we have the Vigil readings. The problem with using the High altar is no exchange of Peace with the priest and giving communion to the servers seems awkward. There is even talk of not giving us the chalice in case of spillage - there are an awful lot of steps! Th...

Health

I've had toothache and the dentist has given me antibiotics and Liz has an infection near her eye so she has cream and antibiotics. I've been wearing my hearing aids at work - my ears get a bit sore after 4 or so hours but I think this is one place where I do need them as people tend to speak softly in the library. Well at least some do!
