The organist librarian

Woke with a wierd dream about my brain wiping out Islamic and Indian material and then reinstating it all! No swim again. To mosaic and gesso on board which was much admired and did more work on the mirror. Tai chi and then we all went to Jack's for lunch. My eggs royale were cold but hash browns were hot and plenty of coffee. Chatted to Sean.Took bathroom mirror to be fixed. I was lucky to find my glasses lens on the bedroom floor.   Played the Royal Festival Hall organ! Wow! The only big organ in London I have not played is the Royal Albert Hall. I played Murrill Postlude on a Ground which I also played at Westminster Abbey. William McVicar spent an hour explaining the various stops. Some of the organists played too long as we had to be out by 10. I played the organ before the rebuild when Dad came and Ralph Downes came to demonstrate the organ. He showed us a Hill sound! 

Displayed 6 Roman mosaics and 2 fridge magnets plus small paintings from Esme and Rosa in the case at Thornton Heath pool. Several people said how nice they were. Because of the case I abandoned an amount of the explanations and kept it simple. Swam 20. To Thornton Heath library and helped Julie put up the paintings - I have 6 up! Looks great. To Festival Hall and listened to Christina Ortiz play on In Tune in the foyer then to talk on the organ with William McVicker and John Scott. He described his first encounter with the organ in 1973 when Ralph Downes changed the first lesson from the oratory and he played the St Anne fugue! The concert was magnificent - Marchand, Buxtehude, Bach, Mozart and Dupre and fiendish Liszt in the second half. I had scores for 3 of the pieces and his technique is immaculate. The Vaughns and Dibbs were there also the Harpers and Harry Bramma.
